I got hit by a truck
-
Well actually he pulled out in front of me and I hit him on my bicycle, but I feel like I got hit by a truck. I tore some ligaments in my shoulder but no other injuries. Good drugs + ice makes me happy. I am never riding on the sidewalk on the right side of the street again. Asshole never looked, and I couldn't stop in time.
-
No offense, but you were riding a vehicle on a sidewalk and not the street (where vehicles belong). If you did not yield to the vehicle that was driving on a legal surface, you are at fault for failure to yield.
-
How is a pedal bike a vehicle? It does not contain any of the needed items for a car to be street legal. Often that can not keep up with flow of traffic.
Back on subject. Hope you heal fast.
I about got hit by a dumbass guy on his bike today. Decided that when riding on the street, he can ride through a 4-way stop with out slowing down, or even looking and almost went right into my rear 1/4 panel.
-
If you can get a DUI for riding a bike, it probably can be classified as a vehicle

He stopped at the intersection when he had a clear opening to pull out so I thought he saw me umm guess not. It was right on the corner of 24th and 32nd by Taco Johns. On the plus side the dumb fucker will have to get his door replaced and the dents in the fender pulled. I may have also bent his running board.

nicely done. hope the shoulder heals up.. and hope the repairs aren't cheap.
I'm a bit torn on who's at fault with this one.. there's so many asshole cyclists out there not obeying ANY traffic laws, and so many asshole drivers not paying attention to pedestrians or other vehicles. Who gets to pay for the damages (yours and his both)?

id rather have bicyclists riding on the side walk than in the street (especially on busy streets. fuckers think theyre lance armstrong)
-
why should a bike have to be on the shoulder? there are no minimum speed limits on in town streets (that I know of) and the should is much more dangerous for a bike than you'd think. Bikes are an fast growing means of transport and the cities or fargo/moorhead are poorly equiped to handle this fact. Optimally I'd love to see "california" style bike lanes along all major roads and have the local drivers start paying more attention. But for the time being, I feel that the resposibility to watch out for cars falls on the bikers right now
. I would also like to see more Bicyclists ticketed for running stops, illegal turns etc. I'm sorry to hear you got hurt, but I see the resposibility as yours
-
I can guarntee that those of you who put good job for hitting the vehicle and damaging it, etc, would be pissed if a bike ran into the side of your vehicle. Yes, he should have been paying attention, but so should you, and bicycles are hard to see sometimes especially when they are coming off of the sidewalk. Sucks for all involved as far as im concerned.

The only way to miss me riding my bike is to not look at all. I had every intention of stopping, as there was a line of cars behind the truck, so when he stopped I though he saw me and was giving me the go ahead. There is absolutely no way I will ride my bike on 32nd ave ever, that would piss me off if I had to slow down for a bike on that road. Not many bikes can do 40. It wasn't like I missed the truck, a 3/4 ton dodge, I just thought he saw me and was yielding to me.

The guy was lucky he lived through a collision with your giant ass.

I hate almost every bicyclist I've ever come across on city roads for the following reasons. I have yet to see one average joe (not one of those suited out bikers who know their shit, although even THEY do retarded stuff sometimes) who has stopped at a stopsign/light and waited their turn. Yet to see ONE who has signaled their intentions to turn/merge. And have seen several that are biking into oncoming traffic even. Bunch of frickin idiots that I would love to see get ticketed or clipped by a mirror. To those who actually follow the laws and rules, congrats, you're one of the few bikers who do it.
