2009 TM P10 Nightshift Style?
-
Its a good idea in theory, i think it would be sweet to have it outside. The only problem would be that you would have to hope that the weather conditions were almost perfect. Rain, wind, temperatures all these things are gonna be factors. having a stunt show is a great idea, also the fact that your outside means that people would be able to start their cars, i wouldn't mind hearing some of those beasts rev :icon_geek:

sounds like a good idea but arent almost all of the car shows that happen in the area outside? also i am assuming if its outdoors there would be no fee to go to the show.why would you assume that? At the HIN nightshifts you still have to pay. Simply charge admission.
I'm down for this. Sounds like fun.

i can see good and bad haoening from this, but i think its a great idea.
public nussiance (i know, i cant spell) doing a stunt show...at the show, would be sweet. they are making a name for themselves all over these days. it would also be sweet to see something like a wet t-shirt contest, or other contests like that.
but i can see where people might think that they have free roam around the cars. I would hate to see something happen to anybodys car at the show. also keep in mind the dust at the fair grounds+how windy fargo can get. i know i would want to see dust/dirt/sand blown on these cars...after the owners spent countless hours getting them in the pristine condition they need to be in.
its a toss up.

[QUOTE=Bunique;243865]why would you assume that? At the HIN nightshifts you still have to pay. Simply charge admission.
QUOTE]just thinking that sense there is no real enclosed outdoor areas in the area, so i was thinking it would be hard to charge admission unless a fence was put up around the area the car show was being held.

the only complete outdoor closed in area would be the WF fairgrounds but i'm unsure of their parking lot surface...also even though it would be spendy i would think that orange plastic fencing would be less expensive than renting out the dome...thats what i was thinking at least

calling a date that we could get everyone from out of town here hoping it doesnt rain smells like disaster...How's is that any different in getting them here for an indoor show if they still have to drive from out of town....I don't know what I'm getting myself into. I'm sure you have a good answer....lol

As for the charging admission why couldn't they just do the same thing ribfest does every year? That's what I was thinking as well. I don't think it would be too hard to figure something out.

i feel you yea for sure have to consider the weather but if you are always planning on bad things happening, it will never work out...i say go it... a few years ago all the tm shows were outside and i believe they only got rain once so if you look at it tm has a pretty good track record for picking good days idk its a fifty fifty shot really yeah i would suck if it did rain but it would be awesome if it beautiful out like the past 5 years or so they have help their show.
LIFE AINT NOTHING WITHOUT RISK
I feel TM has kinda lived by that motto in the FM area and look at where it has gotten them -
Outdoors with a wet t shirt contest, decibel comp, burnout comp, ... Open bar...

I meant that the people from out of town won't drive all the way here knowing theres a chance it might get rained out... -
i do feel that people will come to this show from out of town due to the fact that TM puts on the best all around car show in this region right next to HIN, thats why people will come because they want to be apart of the show, if it is advertised right it could get even bigger being inside because there will be more room for more cars endless options of different activites to have within reason

The evolution of the P10 show came from a huge risk as Scott mentioned. We used to hold annual show n shines at the Fargo and Grand Forks location. 4 years ago I asked about the chance of getting into the Civic Center. Shane was skeptical, but after checking rates and getting some response on the idea, we gave it a go. P10 Gen 1 was a great success, and that has what we have built on every year. We have tried things that failed (Inebriation, 2 rooms for the show (Civic Center), and we have tried things that have been successful (Fargodome, Tianna, Red Carpet, etc...). I really REALLY like the idea to expand for 2009 and put a twist on the already successful show. There are many things that go into planning an event, and the planning usually starts in January. So from now until then, we need to decide on how to make the 2009 event refreshing, yet successful/profitable. So I will go back to the basics and put down the Pro's and Con's that I can think of at this point (to having it indoor vs. outdoor)
Indoor
Pro's:
-
Continued growing success - we know we can fill the Fargodome with awesome show vehicles
-
No rain risk (this is an enormous risk, as if it rains we not only lose entries/attendance, but lose the deposits on anything run off electricity (DJ, sound, lighting, stage) and the deposit on the lot/arena rental.
-
Familiarity of running the event
-
Easy to monitor paid entrees
-
Convenience for talent (suites/rooms for models, judges, us, etc...)
-
No mosquitoes
-
Controlled Temperature
-
Roll-in is controlled/smooth and no backed up traffic
Con's:
-
It has been done for 4 years, and a change may introduce new vehicles and anything with a running car is exempt.
-
High expense for electricity
-
High expense for building rental
Outdoor
**Pro's:
**-
The feel that being outdoors in North Dakota gives on a nice cool evening
-
The ability to LOOK INTO a stunt event/auto-x/burnout contest/etc...
-
A change from every other P10
-
No electricity charge to us, or the entries as the cars would be able to be idle'd.
Con's:
-
Rain risk
-
High humidity that ND can have, making even after sunset irritable and giving the entire show a bad vibe
-
Mosquitoes
-
Risk involved IF we could have a motorsport event
-
Insurance expense to hold a motorsport event
-
Potential loss of entries due to rain risk and a 3-12 hour drive
-
Noise ordinance - RibFest has proven that you can have noise after 10pm in the dome, however was their an expense? License? Or am I off and the music was off by 10pm?
-
Regulate those that pay to enter may be tough
That is my quick 'off the top of my head' thoughts. Judging from the Pro's and Con's, it makes most sense to hold it inside....I am VERY much into the idea of an outdoor event, but there is a lot of roadblocks to overcome. I would like to continue reading others thoughts/objections.
