Wooo SV650 FTW!! the only bad about the SV is that its torque as fuck. The bike is pretty retarded at picking up the front end at almost any speed. Once again get whatever you want, just don't be a stupid fuck on it.

Edit: On a side note my SV might be for sale this coming the spring, mint condish.............

i would stay away from the early R6's if you want to go that route, they had a second gear problem where they would always go out. i would go with a CBR or GSXR if your gonna go with a early 600. and you probably will get bored with a 250, there really slow.

The second gear issue only affected a small number of 99-01 R6's. It caused the bike to slip out of gear every once and I while at high rpms. I never had a problem on my 01 and I would have to say I preferred it hands down over the 07 ZX6R that I owned. It felt way lighter, the seat was more comfortable, and it actually felt faster. The best bike I can think of to start out on in the 600 class however would have to be the F3 or F4i. Both are fun, run forever if maintained, and are damn near indestructible. These threads are making me want a bike again!

Its a pretty bad ass bike and supposedly not as brutal to ride as most Aprilia's. Just have to get that weird triangular exhaust off and replaced with something better.

Speaking from experience here. Start off on a 250. You'll be happy you did. Don't ride over your head, thats way too easy to do on a 600, well on any bike for that matter. You should start small and slow and move up to bigger bikes as your skill level increases. Way back in the day I started off on a 125cc 4 stroke enduro bike riding around town. You wanna talk about slow, haha that thing was crazy slow. You'll scare yourself on a 250 Ninja the first time you rip through 1st gear. You'll get more and more used to it, and more brave as you go. Then you hop on a 600, rip through 1st gear, and piss your pants because it feels so fast. Most people start off on the wrong bikes with way too much power.

Im going to dissagreed with you, not that your opinion is wrong, becasue you are right about the first gear thing. I have never ridden a 250, but for the price of a new 250, couldnt you buy an older 600? even so, one that has already been laid down? I would say start with an older 600 and be smart about riding, instead of a 250 and think you're safer with less power.

I have never ridden a 250, but for the price of a new 250, couldnt you buy an older 600? even so, one that has already been laid down? I would say start with an older 600 and be smart about riding, instead of a 250 and think you're safer with less power.

I think its way to easy for a n00b to get in over their head on ANY 600. Anyone without riding experience can get hurt on a bike. I would be less concerned with laying it down than with actual survival. And what exactly to you mean be smart about riding Zac? God knows it would kill everyone around here to put a helmet on, or any gear for that matter.

Yes you can get a decent used older 600 for the same or less than a new 250 Ninja. That wouldn't be a bad thing to do as long as the rider can keep their right hand under control. There is something I do to keep myself in check when I start to get a little more daring than a guy should with my bike. I put on my helmet jacket and gloves, and go way out of town and find a road with no traffic and just rip through 4 or 5 gears. Looking down and seeing 160 and watching how fast things fly by is enough to settle me down again.
