I just saw a BD Super B going on a Cummins today....

    The "super B" is a 57mm comp, and a 65mm turbine

The "super B special" is a 64.5mm comp, and a 71mm turbine... which is what i have

was it on a 3rd gen truck?? cuz even just the super B would be a huge upgrade over the 9cm hotside on the stock turbo, that thing is big EGT maker

Just the smaller one. Went on an 01 24v. The compressor housing looks smaller than the hx35 that came off.

        PM me for:

        Diesel repairs or performance products.

Hey Zac, does that have the wastegate on it or is that the difference with the 35w? We have one wearing out, and looking for a used replacement.

are you asking on the original or new turbo?

but yes both the new and old are wastegated

old is only wastegates one volute... new does both and they are big

                no, nothing really heavy yet

but honestly I am amazed how it is working..... don't know why people say you dont want to pull with a 64?? unless it is that much different in a maunual truck?? I almost wish i would have went with a 66 as seeing how responsive the 64 is

At unloaded cruising i now see slightly higher EGT's and lower boost pressures.....(should help some with mileage from easier engine breathing). but with a little bit of load it will quickly trasition into good boost with out any smoke or hesitation.... then the EGTs stay way way lower than they would have with the stocker under any load

We will be hauling calves in a week or two so that will be 25k lbs.... see then what it does with a heavy load. Should get a vid showing all the guages when i am loaded like that accelerating and cruising loaded.

As of now i love it... and really see no absolute need for twins... I know now that i could go to a 66 if i needed more and still spool it to my liking

jacobs give your 2 cents, you rode in it and can attest to the spooling, EGT's, and power increase

Its still a tossup as to whether the 4K governor springs, torque converter change, or turbo swap made the single most impressive change all by itslef

64 sucks with a manual, even with a bigger pump and chip turned up all the way. it was annoying to drive, once it spooled it was decent, but the twins are soooo much better. we pulled a 25ft enclosed car trailer with a early 80's delta 88, fridge, washer & dryer, big tv, and lots and lots and lots of heavy boxes and tools and stuff from phoenix up to flagstaff (up a mountain) and with the monster pump, ddp 150's and the twins, it pulled amazing, and beleive me, we were doing 80 the whole way up and could still accelerate quickly

I am looking for one, but wondered if the hx35 works in place of the hx35w, which we have one that is wearing out. Everyone tells me something different on the difference between the two, just need one that doesn't squeal when the engine is at upper rpms.

well beahbum, hauled the calves and finally had it loaded heavy

works great for keeping my EGT's good and all that stuff in check but there is only one thing that i get that is a nuisance.

if i am in OD with the converter locked and i am going slower than 60 mph with a big load you cant go beyond 20psi or i get compressor surge which is gay but i can live with..... anything at or above 60mph i can go full throttle with a load

made a little gay vid to show what kind of response it has and how loud the compressor is at low boost especially

from a dead stop accelerating normally and i stab the throttle for a quick second. rolls from 15psi to 40psi like nothing

would be interesting to see the actual difference on a manual truck

you need volume, camera has had a horrible life
