'87 MKIII Supra Progress

I thought I would post up the progress I have made on the Supra on here.

Well, I decided to start working on the Supra again, this time I have funds, and a
camera. Last summer, I purchased a 1987 N/A Supra, it runs and drives great, just needs a little cosmetic help here and there. For now, I plan on keeping it N/A until I can afford to go N/A-T and do it right.Worklist...

The Supra is finally back on the road! Man does it feel good to be back behind the wheel. Finally got around to installing the rear hatch trim, 3rd brake light, and various other things. I got a bunch of pictures, so ill let them do the talking.
Harbor Freight is my Hero

New seats! I am very pleased with how they turned out.

Decided to install my sub the right way this time. Last summer I used random wire I found around the shop, and just made it work...didn't sound too great. I got this amp and sub for free, and I am very impressed with how it sounds.

Nice little hole already in the firewall

What a mess

Amp...

That's Better!

First drive of the year!

I thought I would throw up some pictures of my parts car....1987 rod-knock turbo...

So the Supra is on the road, eating my money and I am loving every minute of it! I still need to get the carpet fully secured under the door sills, and do some other odds and ends, but so far I am very happy with the progress I have made on my tight little college budget. I will keep updating this as updates happen.
And to close, here is a picture of a '65 Baja that my dad built in the late 80s. Unfortunately he sold it, and since that day I have made a vow to myself that I will build another before I die.

I took a couple more parts off the parts car. First off I KNOW that the wing is red, but the PO put a turbo hatch on my car, so it had the mounting holes there and it was looking ugly. This way I have more incentive to get it painted. Besides, I do not think it looks that horrible anyway. I also took the shitty broken front lip off, it looks nicer without it now.
Pics...
Some more of the parts car

"photo shoot" if you want to call it that. Never mind the dirtiness of the car.

I primed and painted the hatch today. It looks pretty good! Definitely not a great paint job, but I am happy with it, as it is only temporary.
Pictures!

Well, there is an oil leak. So I put the supra on the hoist and it looks like it is coming from the front of the pan. Going to drop the subframe and pull the pan tonight. We will see how this goes. The car came with a fel-pro oil pan gasket, should I use it? Or should I use fipg or equivalent?
Gotta love having a shop!

Some (bad) pictures of under the car.

Its hard to tell, but in the second picture, it looks as though the bottom of the intake manifold is covered in oil too. What could this be from? Leaky valve covers? -
Update...
I got the oil pan off, and have begun to clean it and the block, not many pictures as I was covered in oil, but you get the idea.

Oil pan is back in as of yesterday, and so far, no spots on the driveway! 6qts of Mobil 5w-30, I will constantly check the dipstick to see how fast I am burning oil now that the leak is fixed.
This is some great stuff!

Worked on the Supera again last night for a little bit, mainly to get it back up on the hoist to see how the oil pan is sealing. No leaks around the pan! But now I have to figure out why my intake manifold is covered in oil on the bottom side. It has both caked, and fresh oil on it.
Also, while under the car, I noticed that some of the lines were a little different, so I cleaned them up a bit and I found AN lines, that's a pleasant surprise!

And that is where I am at right now. Short term plans are:
-Retorque headgasket to 72 ft. lbs.
-Find upper end oil leak, replace what is necessary.
-Finish carpet
-New struts, and lowering springs
-Touch up what needs to be touched up on the exterior.
Long term goals:
-2jzGE running on 7mGTE electronics, staying NA for the time being (NA-T in future)
-R154 swap
-New wheels2jzGE parts list:
-2jz (obviously)
-1jz/2jz to W58 bellhousing
-2j w58 flywheel
-2j w58 clutch
-<89 motor mounts, or BIC swap mounts
-I have a harness, ecu, injectors, etc. off my parts car
Most of the parts will be bought from driftmotion.com when the time and funds come my way. -
What do you want for the complete parts car?
-
Well I plan on using the GTE electronics from it for the 2j swap, and I have robbed a few parts from it for my car, so its not complete. The motor spun a bearing, there is rust growing all over, and I may use the r154 when I do the 2j swap...
