My DSM won't idle (imagine that)
-
As the title says my car won't idle. It had idle surge before when it was cold but would settle down after warming up. Now it will have idle surge when warm or just die. It will idle but after starting it up a couple of times.
I can still drive the car and everything above idle is just fine. I think it is just the ECU on it's way to the junkyard in the sky.
I am not sure if this had a part of this maybe it did. I was running open downpipe the last few days but re-attached the exhaust and this started to happen.

I know I want a damn EVO.

Sounds like your having the same problem my accord has. The Idle Air Control Valve is messed up. Accords and I've heard Eclipses are bad for that. It'll cost ya about $250-300 to replace it.

well its not your idle air control valve....if it was your engine would rev wayy high when you started it up...it went out in my monte not to long ago and it only cost me like 75 bucks to replace....but who knows whats wrong with ur car.

I am thinking it is my crappy ECU. I disconnected my battery for 5 mins and hooked it back up to try an remedy the situation. I think it will just go back to normal now.

im not positive but I am guessing its your IAC, my car had the same problem when I got it. Take the IAC out (usually red part under throttle body) and test it I think it is supposed to read like 20 someting ohms between the little progs in there. Mine had 0 ohms on one gap and that told me right away it was bad. I am guessing yours finally took a crap when it was at really low idle and is stuck there.

I think I am going to do this as soon as I can find a damn Ohmeter or whatever it is called. I think I am going to replace the o2 sensor also.

We have one here at my house I just have to find it.

I checked the ISC and everything was fine with it. I disconnected the battery for 30 mins so I have to wait a few days to see where the idle is going to be at.
