nascar>f1? wtf

their with the mega sponsors, giving millions of dollars to nascar.
call it a hick sport all you want, but the NASCAR marketers are sheer genius at its finest and definately know how to promote the races.

Once SUBARU participates ;).

Michael Schumacher is the highest paid athlete in the world by a pretty large margin. He gets paid more than Manardi has for a budget. NASCAR has what Americans want, no doubt...Sheer HP and lots of wrecks....kinda like bullriding, everyone cheers for the bull.

tin your an american too...vietnam doesnt even make race cars! lol
I know I am an American, I'm just saying how bad the media is. Vietnam is too poor to race cars, but they do race crotch rockets and mopeds :). But I knew about cycling, soccer, and F1 before I was kicked out of the country.

International ties does that for you. He wouldn't make nearly of that if he was born in America and not in Germany.

just realized something....this is one of the best car/racing discussions we've had on fargostreet in a long time.......and its in the "Run your mouth" section...lol

I dont get it, you say hes the best driver in the world. but he doesnt even dominate his own sport?
Thats why i like american sports alot better then any foreign sport. Their funner to watch, we know the athletes, and we know what they can do. Foreign sports certianly do not excell over here and frankly, im glad.

Continuing Tjamz's previous post. Micheal Schumacher gets paid $30 million a year by Ferrari his rookie year, now he's tied with Tiger Woods as the richest athlete in the world. When it comes to sponsors and money, and technology, nascar can't even compare to F1. Ford, Chev, and Dodge dominates nascar, each cost about $200k, 0-60 in 4.6sec. aerodynamic is like shit. F1 cars runs enigines and chassis from a while range of manufactures in the world, Ferrari, BWM, Honda, Toyota, Renualt, Ford competed a few years back until they can't win. Each car cost roughly $14million, 0-60 in 2.5sec. Wondering why Ferrari, Lambo, and BWM are making their road cars based on F1?
-
he dominated the past few years. I think Michael Schumacher is a household name in America, or at least a highly recognized name. Part of the reason F1 doesn't take off here is because it gets ZERO promotion by anyone other than speed, and speed just barely covers them. There is so much more good racing out there than nascar. I'll take Champ, Touring Car, D1, JGTC, etc.. over nascar. NASCAR would be better if they'd make the drivers chug beers during their pitstops

Again, media hype. Tiger Woods and Michael Jordan are known through out the world, because U.S media made them to be like that. David Beckham, and Michael Schumacher are barely known in the U.S, eventhough Michael is one of the 100 most influencial person in the world...

F1 > Nascar for the following reasons:
- Car development is above and beyond anything in the world, when it comes to F1.
- They don't look like fish out of water when they have to turn right.
- BAR Hondas current car has a full carbon fiber gear box. CASES, SHAFTS, GEARS, ALL CARBON
- BAR Hondas cars make 900 whp detuned, weigh 1300 lbs, and rev to 19000 rpm.
- Racing that involves hard braking is pimp.

i was watching nascar cars take the course of a non oval course, like road courses. Its odd to see that names like jeff gordon dont regulary place high in this type of racing. Is this sort of nascar course racing a relatively new sport? if so, it sounds like a huge attempt for media hype. sick...

Each car cost roughly $14million, 0-60 in 2.5sec.one of the main reasons that nascar is so popular is because the promotors of it have always tried to keep it a "real person" sport, by keeping the factory look of production cars, they are very aerodynamicly flawed and prolly always will be.
this would also explain all the publicity of the drivers as real people, not some greasy haired stuck up snob thats been raised with the money to become the driver he is
nascar was started with factory built cars, and how they can modify them to go faster then the original designer would ever dream! not build the craziest thing u can dream of and then make rules around the spec of that "car"
nascar's rules almost dont alow a team to build a 14million dollar car to keep the playing field equal, and to keep the veiwing of the race enjoyable from the stands i.e. restrictor plate races
i myself would preffer to watch somebody i can relate to, not a robot bred for racing glorified go karts
and i think thats the main reason for the popularity of nascar. americans love to root for the under dog, home town kid, or somebody else that has felt the hardships of a normal person

Oh god pull out the ole' technology dyno.
Nascar has it's rules so that they are extremely restricted on what they can and can't do. I don't prefer one type of racing over another I will watch them all.
-
oblivious, gordon actually prefers the road courses. he usually does fairly well on them, and they have been racing a couple road courses a year for quite some time now. how ever, i don't really like watching nascar all that much. its just with no cable tv on sundays there isn't anything much better to watch.
