DSM engine
-
I was just wondering if you guys know the best place to get an engine rebuilt around here. A friend of mine blew the engine on his 95 Talon esi and most estimates he's gettin are coming out $3500-$4000 and thats probably what the car will be worth. Anybody know of any cheaper places? Thanks.

If he wouldnt mind a used one straightline specialties probably get you one for nearly half that......7012822902.
PsiedTsi got one from them at a great price with just about a perfect compression test as you could ask for.

first, look around for a vendor on www.dsmtuners.com; then choose one to buy forged pistons and rods from. once the parts arrive, find a machine shop
unless your friend gets titanium rods and custom pistons, crankshaft, etc... i don't see it costing more than 1500 tops -
I guess it would be helpful to know what exactly you mean by "blew up." Ill bet you would get some better answeres

I will second what troy said, have Brian @ Sturdevants do the build, he is very good at what he does and has been doing a ton of DSM lately

Why would he get titanium rods and upgrades for 420a?did i mention that i can't read? after reading the latests posts, if i were this guy... i'd send the head off to get rebuilt by a reputable "speed shop." if he just wants it to be stock... then take it to one of the local shops and have them nurse it back into shape

some day all cars will have cheap plastic engins and instead of getting your oil changed you just replace the whole deal.
