ive never painted car before, but the owner of the car before me tried to paint and its a sh!t job the clearcoat wore off in some spots and the different undercolor shows through and im wonderin if its even worth tryin to paint myself or find a shop n have them do it
I have been asking the same question around lately and I guess the place to go for a good paintjob would be NZ customs or something like that but be ready to pay pretty good money for it.
I've seen the results of a good DIY paint job, and the guy had definitely done it before with good equipment. Pay someone else to do it and get a warranty.
It depends on what color you want to paint it. I guessing labor is pretty closely priced between shops unless it's a specialty shop like aurora or odden's.
well whoever did it before painted over stock color with like a reddish maroon and the paint wore off in some spots and im just lookin to get a stock color depending on price cause if i can get a differnt color for close to same $ ill go with that
best thing to do if you dont wanna spend alot of money is to just dig in. The body work isnt all that hard. there's alot of info out there to help you. you just have to apply yourself and you cannot lose patience. spraying takes some skill......some body shops will spray your car for a lower price than the whole job.
quick tip: if the factory paint is showing through the new paint, sand down the newer paint until you get to the original color. you want to o this because the person who repainted it obviously didn't take the time to properly scuff the old paint so there is adhesion problems. n e other questions just ask.
i asked at a couple places for my jeep and it would have been $4500-6500 for color change. didnt care about repaint same hate the color but couldn't pass up the deal i got on the jeep.
its all in the prep work. Its peeling off because the paint isn't sticking for probably numerous reasons. Its not the paint, or how the gun sprayed it on.......PREP WORK!
dude, just go get a quote from five star if ur serious. Scott got his whole color changed with expensive fuckin paint and some body work for 290o which is not bad IMO, it looks really good
