exactly shane so who the hell cars what mods you have. If your satisfied with only looks then do only looks. No one is making you go performance but yourself. i just try to get you to cuz that is what i am into. I would rather run be out running 9 second passes in my daily driver and not sitting in a lawn chair for 5 hours next to my car so people can look at my sexy detail work. Just my opinion though. It would be nice to get the stang moving a little more. if people bitch about something about your car its probably because you dont have the kind of mods they have and that is just their way of giving there input.

You can avoid shit altogether if you do things right. For example, making the V6 Mustang into a capable, all wheel drive rally car. A nice high stance and all. Then you will be simply greeted with dumbfounded stares and speechlessness.

but he's already got it tough enough starting out with a mustang. it seems like 98% of people in this town (or at least on fargostreet) hate mustangs more than satan himself.

EDIT: shane one of the best things you can do on a mustang to drop its times fairly significantly is put some gears in it. 4.10's will drop a GT .5 or more in the quarter mile and still have enough RPM left to get their car up to 140mph before redline (plenty of room for the speeds/times you seem to be wanting). If you are looking for a Jetta at all, I probably have the one you want for sale. Unlikely that you would find one as fast as this one at this price point.

Basically the same car. The golf is slightly more rigid, but overall it comes down to an opinion on looks. Some people like me can't stand the look of the Golf and prefer the Jetta, while others feel the opposite.

http://www.northstarmustangs.com/ for example. Their next meeting is next Tuesday at Luther Ford, usually around 6:30. CCR would know for sure.

3.73's and 4.10's are the way to go with a Stang. I knocked off about .6+ going from the stock 2.73's to 3.73's with my '87 GT. If you have a stick, probably stick with 3.73's, if you have an AOD, then the 4.10's are alright. You won't have enough RPM's left with a stock engine to reach 140mph though.
I used to own a '95 Stang with the 3.8 6 cyl and that thing would have responded just as well with a gear change. That thing was a dog off the line.
I'm not quite sure what all you have done to the car so far, but there are plenty of things you can do to make it a bit quicker for fairly reasonable if that is what you are concerned with.

I almost hate to admit this because I take a lot of pride in doing everything my self... but I got scared off on the gears after watching a do-it-yourself video. I didn't want to go through all of the work and then have to re-do it if the gears were not setup right.
Anyways, Mills Ford in Brainerd. I know a couple of the mechanics there pretty well and I trusted that they would do a good job... and they did. It just cost a bit more then the average shop.

I actually purchased my speedogear ahead of time and told Mike Bock to put it in when they do the gears and he actually put a different one in and told me I had bought the wrong one. It is dead on.
