Integera - LS vs. Type R
-
Make sure you are buying a real Type-R due to the originallity of them. As far as I know, each year they were made, Honda made only 500 of them. They have placks in the middle of the center counsel that states what number it was produced. If you do find one forsale, make sure to offer a reasonable price on it. I can see a 2001 Type-R with low miles going for the $18K range, but nothing in the late ninety's going for that high. That price, you'd be better off getting an RSX Type-S with a better engine, tranny, suspension, and the interior is way better.
Over all, if you want something authentic, get a Type-R, otherwise the LS Tegs are everywhere, almost as common as neons, but better than a neon.
My .02 cents.

PS....buy Ken's GSR, like he said, almost a Type-R, but better than a LS. Well worth it. Make sure you dont get a 4door GSR either.

Whats the "TEG" that some of you are talking a bout? Is that a specific LS model or what?

There is a white integra 94-99 style pretty sure. has a b18b1 in it im sure stock but doesnt have model my guess is a ls. Its a 5spd and has around 138k i believe. Needs just alittle bit of work. It is at a used lot in main in west fargo. No price on it yet. They just got it in last week Thursday. They got it from Tri State auto auctions which is right by the lot pretty much. I drove the car. Runs real good and the interior is really clean. i dont think its to bad if you could get it for around 1500 or so. Id drive it but i am getting a 92-95 Civic HB

Or just get a sweet ass turbo car that isn't a DSM.
-
AWD DSM are fun cars(when the arent broke)
-
"TEG" is just short/abrev for Integra, no special one, just name in general.

A common cheap power adder is to do what's called a LS Vtec, which you get the LS block, and a Vtec head, either from a Civic Si/Type-R, or the GSR/Type-R's head. Opens up a lot of potential....but this is also costly, almost might as well find a GSR or Type-R.
I used to own a civic with the D16Z6, wanted to turbo it, but realized that the car isn't worth it. Before you really do any major work onto a car, make sure that it is worth it to YOU, and only you....unless you plan on trying to sell it later, you wont get what you put into it back, just keep that in mind, no one out there will shell out a lot of money for an older car when they can get a newer one for the same cost.

id say go with a gsr. and joel, if i can handle the vtec he can to. Well i came with the natural rice burning/vtec abilities since im half asian. VTEC equals 4 turbochargers.yep its pretty much the best thing alive...jk.

wrong not all integras have b18s...some came with D16 dohc vtec motors when they first came out in the 80s
I can be wrong, but im pretty sure all came with the B18's since the late 80's, at least. I have never seen a D16 with a DOHC from the factory though.
-
All 2nd gen GSRs were B17s actually. We never got a factory B16 integra.
The B16 integras were the XSI's, which were never released here.

My '89 ls has a D16A1. It's a 1.6l DOHC non-vtec. This engine was in the 1st gen Integras from '86-'89. -
