Why doesn't anybody race?

I agree with alot of whats been posted on here but one thing does tick me off. I really disagree with kicking someone out or not letting them hang out because of what they drive. I don't give 2 shits if they drive a Chevette or a Ferarri. They should all have the opportunity to hang out. That is, until they give a reason for them to be asked to leave. But, it should be because of their actions not what they drive. That to me is Elitist.I hope you weren't referring to the last 'big' post I made...I wasn't suggesting it, I just said it's happened to me before.

Theres too much to read so I'll sum up what I'm thinking with what I've skimmed:
Last year I made it VERY clear to the police that we did not want to be associated with the moron crowd. Dubbsy specifically can remember that night at Kmart when I called the police and was actually on the phone for a decent amount of time stating my case, and talked equally as long to the officer that showed up. She was very understanding and appreciative, but she ultimately had to tell us to leave because of the no loitering signs. She actually cared that we had no place to go and understood we just wanted to hang out.
Anyway, I suggested 32nd Hornbacher's last spring because I knew the managers at the stores from working with them and they know my dad. The one time you guys got kicked out and I wish I was. I no longer work at any Hornbacher's so that is definately out of the question now. Too bad too because we could have had 32nd or 13th. The best way to get a parking lot to use after ~9pm or whenever is to be in contact with the owner/manager. There are a ton of new strip malls opening up and maybe thats something to look into, but remember this is something that requires our enforcement on rules. If we ourselves are making the complaints to the proper authorities, we will gradually gain respect. Regardless, it's not going to happen overnight...

Well.. Like I stated, what about the information center on 45th St? It's a public place, not owned by any business as far as I know.. I've seen car-shows there before, nothing big or serious, but more-so a during the day get together..

LOL -- Who's up for a Winter-meet?
-
I was checking 'weather.com'; all Week it is supposed to be in high 30s, which is a huge jump from what we've been getting lately... waking up @ 8am or so and seeing it only 5-10 degrees sucks a lil bit!

I disagree. Who is STILL in that divided mode? There might be a few people out there that hold on to the "us vs. them" shit but it's definately not 4 out of 7 people that would show up to the ricer meets anyways. That shit has nothing to do with 95% of us so why would we care if a meet is at either shop?I haven't hung out at either shop lately (last 2 months or so) but it still seems like there are loyal Tintmasters customers who won't hang out at SLS and vice-versa. Does it suck? Yup, it sure does, but I don't see that changing anytime soon.
The scene has REALLY gotten stale, IMO. I remember when it used to be that as soon as someone got a new part (ANY PART) for their car they'd go out and either show it off or go find someone to race to see how it worked. This was back when having I/H/E was considered a half-decent start to a mod list. Now it seems like unless you are doing something PHENOMONAL with your car, noone gives a shit. Did we as a group price outselves out of our own demographic? Hell, I've got over $10k in mods on my car, and just because i'm not uber fast I feel like I don't belong at these meets. Everyone always says "do something different" but ultimately unless you follow status quo, everyone thinks of you as the doing stupid shit that means nothing. Guess what, it meant something to those that put their hard earned money into their car. I'm a high 12-low 13 second car at best...you know what though, I have built MY CAR the way I want it....yet I hear from everyone "When are you gonna get a 'real' turbo" or "why did you put all that money into your car and not race it?" The answer: "Maybe never" and "Because I know how fast it will go, no need to beat it up at the track over and over and over" because right now I'm happy with how it runs and I'm happy NOT having to buy parts for my car.
/end rant

I could'nt have said it better myself.

Tjamz; you know how to hit it on the head!
When I got exhaust, it was like.. "wow...cool.." nothing special
When I got rims, it was like "oh sweet.. " whatever
etc. etc.; seems like if I had a major turbo upgrade it'd be a different story..
oh well.. in time.. -

Now that was a good rant. I think a lot of people feel that way. -

Not saying that those people don't exist but they are NOT the majority. -
Well.. I am an unbiased customer; and wouldn't lean 1 way more-so than the other..
And I'll probably get quotes from both of them this coming spring; for a clutch install...
