So Saturday after I left the track I decided to do some grocery shopping. Since Wal Mart opened their grocery section, I have done most of my shopping there, typically making a trip over there about once every ten days.

I don't think I'll be making another trip there any time soon. The isles are always clogged with slow traffic, people seem to be more rude there, and since it always so busy parking is a bitch.

How do you feel about saving a little bit of money by shopping at Wal Mart in comparison to places like Target, KMart, Hornbachers, Cash Wise, and Sunmart? Is the few dollars you save worth the hassle?

I grocery shop @ Sun Mart just because the time it takes to drive to walmart, buy groceries, stand in line for ever, and then leave just isn't worth it.

It's a minimum 30 minute trip just to drive to walmart and back, whereas I can go buy groceries and be back in 30 minutes from Sun Mart.

dont get me started on walmart...my family is a grocery family....i HATE walmart with a passion. It pains me seeing people go there. Its like supporting alqaida(well not really but walmart is bad)...did you know for every job walmart creates 2 are lost? As a general rule walmart uses an inferior product in their produce, meat, and deli sections. I spose all of you could look at me and say im biased...so ill be done now

At first I did it for fun, then I realized I made the investment and had to do it!

I do grocery shopping at whatever grocery store I live closest to.
When I lived behind Red Lobster, I used hornbachers on 13th and 42nd, when I lived near the corner of 13th and 25th I went to cash wise, now I live in WAY north fargo so I shop at northport hornbachers. I honestly don't care, I'm assuming that if I lived close to walmart and i was closer to walmart than hornbachers, I'd shop at hornbachers.

The only fun thing about going to Walmart is seeing the trashiest, most inbred people that you could ever find in one spot. Other than that, it sucks.:)

Walmart directs there traffic for the "low income" people..most people do not realize that. I own walmart stock and its done nothing but make me money so I cannot complain.

so true. it's either the hottest of women or best trailer trash around.

I shop at wal-mart occasionally. Usually I try and stop myself, simply because I too hate they way they kill small business... however there's days when I'm heading somewhere quick and need a bunch of things that would require multiple stops...end up stopping at Wal-mart instead...

And I'm not sure if Target is a whole lot better these days! Getting to be the same "everything under one roof" store BS..

Groceries all come from Sun-Mart in Moorhead.
Odds and ends from either Target.

I think what disgusts me is that Wal-Mart wants to put in another damn store...

I don't even try to go to fargo walmart any more. If i need something from there then i just go to the moorhead walmart. it's closer for me but even if i'm next to fargos walmart and need something i will drive to moorhead.

This is what I am talking about. I have hated going there because it is such a pain in the ass to deal with all the dumb fucking people who shop there.....yet I save money buying shit there so it kind of evens out.

I was unemployed for a long time, and when I could barely afford things I went to Walmart. It made sense because my money simply was able to get me more things, and I only have to drive about 1/2 mile to get there so I saved on gas. I saw a documentary that aired on PBS about Walmart, and I decided I wanted to stop shopping there. After I got a job again and could afford to be a bit less picky, I swore off of Walmart. Fuck them.

i love walmart....here in Apple Valley anyways. The reason you guys hate walmart in Fargo and Moorhead could due to the management. The wal mart here in AV is awsome, I go in there, grap what I need, then go to the self check out. But then again, the wal mart in AV is one of the top five in the world or country.......

Ok, I do shop at walmart on occassion (sorry tony) but here is the reason why:

If I need (for example) socks, underwear, a toaster, car wash supplies, milk, pop, cereal, and bread I don't want to go to 2 or 3 stores and stand in line for 3 minutes at each one. I'd just as soon do all my shopping in one place and then stand in line for 9 minutes, in the long run I'm saving time by not having to run to target, bergs, and hornbachers. HOWEVER I won't go to walmart just to grocery shop, I live way to close to Sunmart and Hornbachers to justify that...heck I've been known to go to Holiday as its 1/2 block closer. I also won't go there just for socks or underwear (Kmart nearby too). Same for car cleaning supplies, I'll go to fleet farm or Bergs for that.

I do like the look & feel of the new walmart store, doesn't feel as trashy as it used to and it feels more "Homey" with the lower shelving and new aesthetics.

Don't get me wrong, Walmart is a ruthless, money hungry, cut-throat organization who often carries inferior product lines....but their stocks have traditionally done well because of this.
