Why Miatas?

I like the way mine handles, with the right suspension and chassis mods you can get ther rear end out easily like a rear wheel, and it hold the road awsomely. Ask eric. He knows what im talking about. Ill give you a ride in mine next spring when its moving again.

Harwood I'll let you drive mine and you'll see why. A Civic is a FUCKIN plow compared to a Miata. It's easier to give the Miata more power than it is to make a civic handle like a Miata. Heck, even the SCCA has a class just for the miata. (spec, miata). Now I'm not flaming on a Civic either. In fact, I like em alot but there's absolutely no way a fwd is gonna outhandle a rwd. (within reason). Did I mention that my car (fully dressed) weighs in at 2100lbs?Ok, now i see why, 2100lbs fully dressed is fricken light. Mine wont even be that light gutted.

If you think your's handles.... I'll give you a ride and scare the shit out of you. There's no way you'll pull off in your civic what I can in mine. Now I'm sure your car is faster than mine (straight line), but that's where it ends. I think Tufte will back me on this.

If your sliding, your wasting momentum. I didn't think we were talking about drift racing here, were we? Even then, I'd rather have mine. My only gripe with the Miata, (other than it's lackluster power) is the interior room.

Harwood have you ever even been in a civic w/ good suspension?
-
ive been in my car, which has a somewhat good suspension(at least the stiffening) now im not saying its top of the line but my car handles awsome. I have also beenin kyles red hatch, and that thing is fricken awsome(omni coils and dampers, pasword 3 point front bar, really good sway bars, lower tie bars, rear strut bar) and its insane.
also frieteg and some others can vouch for my handling, 93civ is one fo those.

It's an impressive mod list. But you are still failing to grasp the big picture of how much a fwd is at a disadvantage compared to a rwd platform. Noone and I mean NOONE buys a Civic or any other fwd for that matter (modded or not) because of their handling prowess. But that is one of the reasons that the people that like Miata's own or want one.

God damnit, now im starting to lean towards a miata if they are that nice. Cause either way, if i stick with my civic(most likely will) its not going to be a good daily driver. Its mostly going to be for track use. But if i could save money with selling my car and picking up a cheap used miata and not need to put all my money into suspension like i do with my car this winter, that may be a better choice for me.

I got mine for relatively cheap. But I had to go to Chicago to get it. And it needs body work. And modding a Civic is far cheaper to boot. Stick with the Civic. Trust me. You can afford that. Besides I like being different than most other people and like that I'm one of the only people I know under 50 that has one.

haha, ya i wouldnt want to step on your toes by getting one. And there are plenty in the cities that are under 4500. But anyways, my work thats getting done this winter isnt cheap, its going to cost me all the money i make to finish what i want to get done before the end of the school year. But i wont say what it is cause everyone will just flame me for it.
