    1. You HAVE to know what your doing.
    2. You have to have the tools.
    3. If I rember right with a 97 civic you cannot just jack up the side of the engine you have to take part way out.

    P.s. If you asking us if you should or can, you should not do it yourself.

        I have the tools and the know how but if it's a major pain the ass I would just rather take it somewhere. I've put clutches in other vehicles but none were FWD.

          It's not that hard, but just make sure you know what your doing.

              Well I put my new clutch in on Saturday. It wasn't too bad, it just took sometime to get everything apart. The only problem now is that the clutch pedal takes almost no effort push, is this because of the pressure plate. Any thoughts?

                What kind of clutch did you get...and did you get a new clutch, flywheel everytihng?

                  I just picked one up from Bumper to Bumper. New not reman: pressure plate, clutch disc, throwout bearing, and pilot bearing. I did not have the flywheel ground, could that be a problem or did I just spend an entire day putting in a shitty clutch.

                    First of all bleed the clutch so that you're sure there's no air in the system. And second of all, yes you more than likely did buy a POS clutch. Any parts store like that sells clutches that have no holding power because they're cheap and people supposedly like them for the light pedal feel. I've done a couple of Carquest clutches in cars and I won't ever even waste my time doing it again. You're so much better off just buying a cheap ACT, Exedy, or something similar.
