I am wondering if anyone has links to info on battery relocation rules and the best places to buy kits for it. just trying to figure how to try and make things work with everything and still be track legal.

    PM me for:
    Sandblasting(I use glass beads)
    Diesel repairs or performance products.

This page can be a starting point if you need a general idea of what you'll need. If you want to pass tech inspection at an NHRA track, you'll need an approved battery box and a remote disconnect switch. Summit Racing would have those things, as well as Performance Auto and I'm sure other performance shops in town could order them if they don't normally stock them. The blue Moroso battery box is one that comes to mind, and I think it costs around $80. You can't get away with a marine battery box as they aren't track legal. Someone else more knowledgable on this subject will probably correct me on some things.

Pin nailed it right on the head. As far as the legality, sabin lets a shitty marine box pass tech, but I don't think any other tracks near here will.

ya don't know if i want to spend lite 200 on a tiny battery and also have to make a mounting kit for it, but at same time don't want a whole with a switch on back bumper..

If you don't need the extra space under the hood then don't bother relocating the battery to the rear of the vehicle. I'm going to be needing the extra room, so I've recently looked into this matter again. I'm willing to cut up the body to mount a disconnect switch as I drive a 13-year-old car with shit for resale value.

The switch part sucks, but there are plenty of ways to make it look good. One thing you could do is modify an extra taillight for the track. I've seen some of the SN95 mustang guys do that, and it looks pretty good. You can then put the other light in for the street and not have a big switch sitting there.

hes gonna need the extra space...i guarantee it...my car is mostly stock and i dont even know how id be able to work in the engine bay without the battery in the trunk...if you are worried about the switch just have a way to disconnect it or somethin...i know kevin had some worries about that and he found a way around it or somethin

At first I did it for fun, then I realized I made the investment and had to do it!

Make sure to do the switch properly if you are running the alternator still. You'll need to run a wire from the alternator to the positive on the battery then to the positive battery to switch, then from other side of switch up to the fuse distribution block. Most race cars don't usually run an alternator so it's really easy to do it vs wiring it with an alternator.

                    Good luck!!

good detail matt. I can help you with it jon. I did it on the probe already once. Pin, His car is RWD, its not just to say he has a battery in his trunk. He needs space under the hood and as much weight as he can get over the back wheels.

                        no race car? becuz homeowner...
