Painting the CRX

Well I decided that this is going to be my first paint job of the year. I wanted to drive the CRX but it was ugly and I just up and decided to paint it. I started sanding it tonight, trying to get all the black spray paint off, I hope to have primer on it this Sunday and paint on it by the end of next week.

I plan to paint it one solid color, no black trim or anything, I have seen these cars one solid color and it looks a lot better than stock.

I just need to figure out what color to paint it. I could go with red like it was stock or something different, if you have any ideas please post. I will update this thread as I make progress on the car.

If you have any other ideas, please post, about all I have planned for mods are, shaved emblems.

as a suggestion, have a color in mind, but dont settle until you go and pick it out. It took me so long to get my car ready to the stage to buy the paint, I had changed my mind on the color when I was picking it out. It was a good decision, as I was very pleased with the color when it came out. I wanted the original Si blue, but then saw "electric blue" and it changed everything. My car was the civic si, with the type r b16 in it, that I think Wannabe owns now. Just my opinion, keep your options open until you go and pick out your color!

I already have colors in mind, I really don't have a favorite color, and I have been looking at my paint books to see what I liked and really I think anything would look good. I just want it to look like a nice little daily driver. I never take a long time to paint a car, I pick a color and do it and I have yet to be dissapointed. I plan on shooting paint next week.

My vote is to keep it the stock red. Here are some pictures of crx's with painted trim that are red.

Ok Lank, its gunna be red, those pictures just showed me how good it could look. So now I need to decied on the shade of red, the stock honda redit was before was dull, I really like that one in the pictures.

I was thinking like a corvette red or ferrari red.

I am gunan do mine like in the pictues too, all apinted trim, god I hate black trim, painted door handles, shaved emblems.

My <u>vote</u> is for JDM ITR dark red. The top picture is the color I'm talking about. Also I attached a nice looking maroon crx, and a stock red one for comparison

I saw a really nice two tone maroon (bottom) & black (top). I'll find the pictures if i can.

Thanks for the input, I like the bright red one that lank posted better. I am not very fond of the dark reds. I am going to United Automotive in the morning to look at paint samples and try to pick a color. I am trying to do this paint job on a budget so I may go with the Omni pant too, unless the PPG isn't much more. I also need to pick up some body filler, but otherwise the car is going good.

Only a few minor dents, I found about 10 bondo sport where the previous owner started fixing the dents. I was supprised to fin the car relitively rust free other than 3 baseball sized spots on the driver door, grinded them down and will fil them later, it was just minor surface rust.

Also I bused most of the clips that hold the ground effect moldings on, so I hope I can find new ones.

Ok, I went and picked out colors, its between these 2 reds. Corvette Torch Red or Ferrari Rosso Red.
