    http://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1563655&page=1
Original pics on page one, and a little update on page 2.

    EDIT

New pics will be up for FargoStreet soon. For now, check the H-T link for photos and updates. This is just temporary 'til I can get some more bandwidth.

I believe this is the first time the car has graced the pages of FargoStreet. The purpose of this thread is supply the readers of this forum the ability to follow along the progress of the reincarnation of the 17 year old body of my car. I see a lot of "what's a good body shop", "where should I get my car painted" threads on this forum. I'm hoping to take some of the guesswork out of this for you guys. I checked out A LOT of body shops, and after much contemplation ended up with Eddie and Tim of ET Kreations. By following this thread you can see the showcase of work that these guys perform on my car. I am very confident in these guy's ability, and I think over the next couple weeks you will be too.

To start off, "The Before Pictures". The car appears to have had one paintjob prior to my purchase. It's a shatty paintjob, simple as that. Rust coming through on the rear quarter panels and underneath the side moulding. A bit of surface rust is appearing on the pinch welds...but it's nothing too big. ET is going to get rid of all the rust, correctly align all the panels, and respray the factory Superior Blue Metallic. Now for the eye candy:

    legacy image

General shot of the car, doesn't look "too" bad, right? Wrong.

    legacy image

Here's a little peak of the beautiful oxidation happening below the paint.

    legacy image

    MMM....yeah, pretty.

    legacy image

While we are touring the rear quarter area, check out that great sanding job. Nice touch.

    legacy image

Just a bit behind the moulding...no biggy. Tim is magic with a welder.

    legacy image

Mostly just surface stuff here....almost happy to see it!

    legacy image

This is what happens when people do shitty paint jobs...it falls off.

    legacy image

What the guys do in there spare time.

    legacy image

I'm sure most of us have seen this before, but man these guys are gifted with an airbrush.

    legacy image

And one you probably haven't seen. New gixxer liter bike gets some love.

Thats all for now. The guys should be starting on the car next week. Stay tuned for progress pics over the next couple weeks

I'm not going to say EXACTLY what I am paying cause I don't really know for sure. The quote they gave me was around 2k....compared to the next cheapest I found....well, it's considerably less, let's just say that.

I did however strip the car myself, and am putting it back together myself, that saves them many hours of labor and knocks a bit off my bill. These guys are very VERY reasonable to work with.

I brought a 2001 mazda mp3 that needs front bumper fixed and painted along with the carbon fiber hood painted down the side, I was quoted 1000.00 cheaper if I take them off and bring them in.. what an inconvenience if you ask me.. Then I went to NZ CUSTOMS for a quote, told me 325.00-350.00 So It will be geting fixed on thursday-friday , then I will post pics!!!

well... the reason it's cheaper is because they don't have to spend their time pulling them off. it makes sense.

Exactly. If he quoted you that little, he's going to paint it on the car...he's labor is the most expensive of any shop I visited. Great work, absolutely...but he's quote for my car was much MUCH more than what ET quoted me.

NO ET would give me a lil deal if I brought them in...But still quoted 1000.00 to do the same work as NZ But NZ will do everything for 350.00

Bumper cover has to come off, its pushed in a lil.

Im gonna have to disagree w/ you there, he's always very reasonable @ $44/hr. Everything i've had done by him i've been happy w/. I've sent a lot of people over to him and no one has ever seemed to complain about the price or the quality. For all the paint, body, and upholstry i've had done by him it hasn't even totalled up to $2000.

I'll have agree and disagree with Tufte here. Tufte sent Megan over to NZ to get her body work done on her CRX. NZ wanted to charge her $5600 to mold in the body kit, take care of a couple little rust spots, and re-paint the car the original color. After looking at the quote they gave her I noticed little things like "4 hours-check driver fender for rust" "4 hours-check pass. fender for rust" at NZ's labor rate it would cost $352 just to check the fenders for rust (which, by the way, doesn't take 8 hours unless you are blind or maybe trying to rip off a girl) while brand new "Certifit" fenders are $100 each. Another thing that I noticed on the quote was "30 hours-mold sideskirts to body" Hell, give me some fiberglass, and a can of bondo and I could do it in under 30 hours and for much less than $1320.

While I do agree with Tufte that NZ does excellent work, I got the feeling that they were trying to "rip off some dumb chick" so we decided to keep looking.

Megan is now getting her body work done at ET. I am not going to get into specifics but lets just say ET is doing MUCH more work than NZ for a better price.

NZ customs has done good work but tries to rip of people that he thinks don't know anything. When i was in there with sean (white del sol) to look at his car after he had painted it. He painted his radiator and muffler white, and thought that it didn't matter at all and said that I was an idiot for bringing it up. so his work is good but his attatude is shitty.

Doesn't she has a Wings West kit? If i recall she does and molding urethane involves no fiberglass, they usually a bonding/molding agent called durabond which is extremly expensive but really the only way to do urethane right. I have a couple buddies who have had urethane molding done and its turns out a lot nicer and stronger then fiberglass.

I guess we must just get a better rate then cuz i had my CF hood, CF trunk lid, front bumper, side skirts, and rear lip all painted and installed for $960 and the hood/trunk lid were painted on the bottom side as well. Kevin had the whole front clip of his 2G painted/installed for under $400, and now Hayley's CF hood painted and bumper repaired and painted for $325.

I don't want this to turn into an argument about NZ customz work, because I don't think ANYONE will deny that they do great work, without a doubt. HOWEVER, in my particular case NZ quoted me 'considerably' higher than ET did. If you had a larger budget, it might not be a big deal, but in my case it was. To be completely honest, I think that he quotes a little higher on certain cars (particularly some imports) because he maybe doesn't want to do the work as much...which is 'completely' understandable (I'd do the same thing). There was more than just price that swayed my decision. ET Kreations were straight up cool guys to deal with, the type of people that I want to have my business....plain and simple. Can ET Kreations produce the type of work that NZ Customs can...I can't say for sure. But one thing that is for certain, is that the reason for this thread is to provide an answer to that, a couple weeks will tell, and you can all decide for yourself.

Not trying to take anything away from them as they do amazing aitr brushing, as far as the rest of the paint and body work i cant say as i haven't seen anything done other than air brushing. I just found it odd you were quoted so high to do your car when i had my hatch quoted @ $2500 to repair rust, take the car down to metal and respray the whole thing top to bottom, engine bay, jams, and the cage.

Keep us posted w/ the pics looking fwd to seeing the finished project. Color change, or same color?
