scary shit no matter how you look at it....but when you think about it are we ever not on the brink of WW3? i mean there is always some radical country or group that is talking shit, for the most part its just a question of when the talkin stops and something hudge goes down...either way...hopefully not in the near future....

The way i look at this is Bush and his administration wants to put their names in the history book and making big chunks of cash. We're stepping into the 5th year of Iraq, what are Americans getting out of this? Gas prices continue to sky rocket, eventhough Bush and his administration promised cheaper prices on gas. By the way, Bush and his family are big within the oil business. Cheney owns the construction company thats rebuilding Iraq right now. The U.S. government are heavily in debt, while Bush and Cheney are cashing big bucks. Iraq has become Vietnam, if any of you paid attention in history class, you would know what i'm talking about. Bush and his administration claims Iraq, Iran and Korea are threats to the world and the U.S. Yet it seems like the U.S. is a thread to the world, creating conflicts with other countries, and threaten to bomb anyone who are in control of "weapons of mass destruction." We already know whos the mastermind of 9/11, why not put more effort in going after him? In the end, Iran will be a clone of Iraq..

- Iran's govt (and prob most citizens) basically vows to kill americans at all costs
- Iran is enriching uranium
- this should concern us all
- we have war plans for most all countries that are hostile to us
- if we didn't have a war plan for Iran, Bush should be impeached
- the Bush hating press loves making a big deal out of knowing that we have war senarios for Iran
- we should (and will) try negotiations, but Iran is basically flipping us the bird
Should we allow Iran to build a nuclear weapon? That is the question.

I guess the real question is " what will they do with those nuclear weapons?" I have heard they do not want Isreal to exist anymore.........so should the US stay out of it? :icon_scratch:

Isreal has been the center of all problems since way before WW2. The british owned the area for a while, which included Palistine, Syria, and Jordan. Then the muslims kicked them out but Britain kept Palistine, then after WW2 gave it to the Jews. And how many seperate wars came against "Isreal", at least 5 that I can think of. I can't wait til the Palistinians take back their land.
Also we the US are the capitalist terrorists. If it at all effects "free trade" or affects someone making money, then the US is there to stop it. And who put Saddam and most of the Dictatorships in the world into power because dictatorships make money for them, oh yea the US.
Edit: I don't know how good the history is so don't hold me to it.

You really took introductory college courses to heart, huh?

Damn conservatives, I hate when I agree with them. I don't really want to go to war with Iran, but not having a plan is a bad bad bad thing. Iran enriching uranium is of concern to me, I admittedly have not been following this too closely, but the last I'd heard is that they want to use nuclear (or nukular) power as a source of energy, I am ok with that, but the second they stop allowing inspectors into the facilities, the facilities should be taken out. Period.

They are obviously gonna say they are going to use it for energy.... yeah right, I believe that. :icon_bounce: Anyway, it's exactly the same senario as Iraq. We set limitations, they flip us the bird, then we have to decide if we are going to back up what we say. If we let them get nukes, you know they will be trying to get one set off here as soon as they can. It's ugly no matter what. I would rather not have a war with them either, can't we all just get along? LOL

to me it seems like a big political chess game:
Country 1 Imposes sanctions
Country 2 develops nuke program
country 1 threatens to attack country 2
country 2 offers to end nuke program in exchange for aid/food/etc...
country 1 accepts offer
country 2 happy
country 1 gets upset about something else and imposes sanctions again
country 2 starts nuke program again...... -

That will never happen. Isreal has one of the strongest militaries in the world for the size of the country. That and the fact that if they were ever in serious danger of losing their country to war the US would get even more involved, which in turn would lead to other countries getting involved (both for Isreal and whoever was attacking them). Also doesn't it already seem like we kind of are in WW3 all the time now? There's fighting going on all over and everyone hates everyone, it's just not a full blown "lets round up all the jews and kill them and blitzkrieg(sp) across europe as well."

From what I've heard so far, yes Iran is building nuclear power plant facilities. Russia is providing them with Uranium. However, it seems that with the amount of plants they have it'd be around 1 year until they had enough for one nuk. Plus there's also the testing phase they should (might not) go through also. I've talked about this in my world affairs class and it seems that it'd be awhile yet til they actually have a useable nuk. So let the negotiations begin, Iran says "fuck you", gas prices get higher yet, people hate Bush (even though it's not his fault for this whole mess), also, soldiers in Iraq seem to not mind it there. The media always focuses on the negative things. How the people from Iraq are unhappy with Bush. Here's an example that pisses me off. There was an evening show on ABC last week that had an interview of an Iraq citizen. They explained how he can now paint his artwork freely, w/o being harassesed or hurt by Sadam's military. Then, he has the nerve to complain about Bush and how he's being slow...it's like "Do you really fucking want Sadam back into power? Because I'm pretty sure that your life would down right suck if he was still in power. So shut the hell up and quit complaining."...speaking of complaining, the Iraq citizen didn't even have the right to complain while Sadam was in power...now that the U.S. is in there and he has the right to complain, he complains about the U.S...People that act that way just piss me off. Why can't they be happy with more than what they had? It's like you help somebody and all they want is more and more.

When we talk about a country that hates us and has the potential to develop nuclear weapons, we must remember the rule of nuclear war - whoever strikes first wins.

How would you win a war against Iran? President Bush and his administration have done more damage to this country in the past six years then one could even begin to quantify. How much money have we dumped into Iraq, and for what? Americans are dying there in vain everyday. We are not helping Iraq, all we have done is helped start a civil war. How can one expected to establish democracy when half the country wants to stab their neighbor. Going to Iraq weakened this fine country we call home. The USA is less respected from a world view, and anything we get involved with at this point will be met with apprehension. Cooler heads must prevail! Rushing head on into another conflict on the world's stage is a bad idea. Besides, how the hell can we afford it? Last time I checked we couldn't drum up enough money to rebuild New Orleans.

whoever strikes first wins.Or it could also be, whoever strikes first causes life on earth to cease. If ANYONE fired a nuke at the US or Russia than an automatic retaliation would occur i bet, then when the one country retaliated the other would launch in order to destroy the other, and a chain reaction could occur that would basically destroy everything on earth. Im pretty sure anyone who has or wants to obtain nuclear weapons knows that if they launched them at Russia/its major allies or USA/its major allies, the world would be over.

How stupid is it to rebuilt a large city in the middle of a bowl that will NEVER be able to withstand a category 4/5 hurricane. It's a waste of money, it'd probably cost less in the long run to rebuild elsewhere. If it happened once it's going to happen again, why press their luck and waste OUR money to rebuild a doomed city?
-
That wasn't the point. New Orleans, education, healthcare, and a million others. This country needs to focus more time and money at home. If we had a decent education system idiots like Bush would not be elected. The biggest problem with this country is that there's another idiot born every minute and no education system to vaccinate the disease.
