not true. a man in germany died as a direct cause of smoking excessive amounts of marijuana over an extended period of time. no cigarettes, no other drugs. granted he was the only man ever known to die as a directly from smoking too much pot, its still possible.<stir>
A review of his autopsy overruled that original ruling. They couldn't link his death to marijuana usage.
As for being high and using guns, I will say this...you're not as retarded as they make you out to look. Sure i've tried it, do I do it regularly? No. I do it probably 4-6x a year. Draw your own conclusions from that if you want but the thing is, you're not out to shoot someone or anything. You don't feel invincible, you don't feel like shooting anyone/anything. The main thing you feel like doing is laughing and eating. You're drawing conclusions off of what anti-drug ads tell you. Thats like drawing your own conclusion on gun control based off just what the brady campaign tells you, basing politics off of just what the democrats tell you...you have to look at things from both sides.
Granted there are people who overly abuse the drug, and it's sad yes. Whether or not it's illegal though they are still and will still do it. The plant has potential to do 1000x more good than harm, plus it's a way to increase revenue as well as decrease our dependence on foreign goods. Think about the legalization from more than just the "you smoke it to get high" perspective.

Marijuana will be legal within 10 years once people start realizing how harmless it is compared to alcohol/tobacco plus all the benefits hemp can provide for this country...anyone who's actually researched it with a more open mindset than "legalize it so I can get high all the time/keep it illegal so kids don't do drugs" will realize it's a very versatile plant that could produce millions/billions of dollars in revenue and wean us off dependence on other countries. The oil is more efficient than ethanol, hemp paper is 7x stronger than wood paper, the seeds are the most nutritious seeds around and birds will eat them first out of any other seed in a mixed pile, etc. etc.I did my senior research paper on that and I actually got Mrs. Ferguson on board after reading my paper.
Dustin, I believe FAR more than 45% of Americans have tried it. I think it is more in the 80-90%'s...

Doesnt pot make you paranoid? I think it does. Seeing you holding that gun and smoking pot makes me think twice. I understand that the picture is your avitar. Whats to say someone else had a weapon and smoked pot?
From my past experiences, smoking pot did not make me paranoid in the least, in fact it had the opposite affect really. I felt more relaxed and calm....with an overwhelming desire to consume fluids (water, Mt Dew, Beer....whatever) and eat pizza/doritos. Like Tony said, I think the actual number of people who have tried marijuana is probably much higher than those that admit it.I'm not saying everyone should be stoned 24/7, but I'd much rather be around someone on Marijuana than someone whos drunk on Vodka/jag/tequilla/etc.... Pot smokers can still have rational conversations when high, ever try changing a drunk persons mind? Doesn't happen very often.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and venture to say anyone who supports keeping marijuana legal has never a) tried it or b) been around someone who is under the influence of marijuana (one or both). If you have you'd know how harmless it really is compared to alcohol which is already legal.
Whoever it was that wanted the "bads" of marijuana..
- smoke inhalation isn't good for you, irritates your lungs. Nobody (from my research or that i've heard of) has died directly from cancer due to marijuana. The only problem with this is that many marijuana smokers also smoke cigarettes which ARE known to cause lung cancer...
- Driving High, while somewhat easier than driving drunk, is still extremely dangerous. Your depth perception sucks and overall you should NOT be behind the wheel at all
- Prolonged usage can cloud your memory. The effects aren't permanent though and recreational users don't really succumb to the los of memory. Any heavy smoker that quits will get their memory back within the year.
Now lets look at alcohol:
Possible to overdose, kills your entire body over time but especially your liver/kidneysTobacco:
Addictive, causes lung cancer and other health issuesMarijuana really have any bad side effects that any legal drug/product doesn't also have, definitely nothing worse.

Dude the paranoia that comes from pot isnt the paranoia that freaks you out and makes you want to pull out your gun and start shooting everything that might be scary...
paranoia from pot is like walking around the house with a bottle of frebreeze trying to get EVERY smell out bc you think your neighbors might smell the pot and call the cops (even though it doesnt even remotely smell liek it), or like going to bed bc your too worried somehow the cops phycically know youve been smoking or something.
Marijuana has way more carcnogenic hyrdacarbons then cigs do, so yeah you can get cancer and that shit is bad. theres a negative.
anyways, yes, some AWESOME ideas come from it... like fuckin jalepaneo cheseburger crave cases from white castle! also try watching pink floyd the wall man that shit is scary! or yeah, deep conversations about life and stuff comes out o fit too...
oh, this is just what i hear too, from friends of course. :icon_flower: :icon_geek:

i've never heard of a car accident caused by marijuana in ND
-
I don't believe they will legalize it, and I do have reasons.
-
Being high delays your reaction times.
-
When you get pulled over and suspected for DUI they give you one or several field sobriety tests, if you fail those, you get a breathalyzer. There is know way of knowing how intoxicated someone is off marijuana on the side of the road as there is with alcohol. A cop cannot determine in a reasonable amount of time if you are "too stoned to drive" like they can if you are too drunk to drive.
-
The government cannot possibly regulate or tax marijuana as they do tobacco because marijuana is so easy to grow.
As far as never hearing of a car accident in ND caused by marijiuana, I was in an accident a few years ago, and the girl that hit me was found at fault(admitted to being at fault), and said it was because she was high.
Now, before you flame me and claim that I have never tried it, let me say this. When I was in high school, I was a stoner, and I got high every day because I simply did not like being in school, and being stoned seemed to make it less boring.
On another note, when I was high, I was more productive than sober. I know that this can go both ways, I've had times where I was high and didn't want to do anything, and I've had times where I was high and couldn't stop thinking about shit and wanting to do shit. The ONLY time I did homework in high school was when I was high.
I am not against legalization, I just honestly don't think it will happen.
Also, there is a difference between hemp and marijuana, they are not the same plant, they just look alike(a closer look will tell you the leaf of one has 5 points, where as the leaf of the other has 7).
Hemp is extremely useful, and would be a great resource to the nation, I just don't believe that marijuana is nearly as useful.
