So i set the timing to top dead center where it is supposed to be and i give it a little gas and when it goes back to idle the timing has changed and is now idling faster. If i tap the distributor it goes back to normal. There seems to be a loose fit where the distributor goes into the bottom plate or something... My neighbor says this plate is probably just worn out and needs to be replaced. Any ideas?

240zgI am Jake, i am a Z car enthusiast. My primary car is a 1998 Acura 3.0 CL... but the music to my ears is my 1972 Datsun (Nissan) 240z. Both cars have never seen a track but hopefully my Z will eventually see the track as a high performance street legal track/drift car. I am only 17 but i know quite a bit about Z cars from 1970-2009, but most about the 1970-1978 model s30z cars (240z, 260z, 280z).
I am looking for someone to do some body work on my 240z. I am able to order factory replacement repair panels for the car from motorsportauto.com in california that specializes in z cars. Basically the body work would consist of welding in the new panels and fixing any dents, sanding, etc... nothing to crazy that would require a lot of fabrication. Let me know, Thanks!

240zThis is my 1972 Datsun (Nissan) 240z. Uncle was only owner of this car until he sold the title to me for a $2 bill after it had been sitting in my garage for 4 years. My father and I have been restoring the car since and have gotten it running again but still needs a lot of work done to it.
