So i set the timing to top dead center where it is supposed to be and i give it a little gas and when it goes back to idle the timing has changed and is now idling faster. If i tap the distributor it goes back to normal. There seems to be a loose fit where the distributor goes into the bottom plate or something... My neighbor says this plate is probably just worn out and needs to be replaced. Any ideas?
This is my 1972 Datsun (Nissan) 240z. Uncle was only owner of this car until he sold the title to me for a $2 bill after it had been sitting in my garage for 4 years. My father and I have been restoring the car since and have gotten it running again but still needs a lot of work done to it.
