Well I plan on using the GTE electronics from it for the 2j swap, and I have robbed a few parts from it for my car, so its not complete. The motor spun a bearing, there is rust growing all over, and I may use the r154 when I do the 2j swap...

    Update...
I got the oil pan off, and have begun to clean it and the block, not many pictures as I was covered in oil, but you get the idea.

Oil pan is back in as of yesterday, and so far, no spots on the driveway! 6qts of Mobil 5w-30, I will constantly check the dipstick to see how fast I am burning oil now that the leak is fixed.
    This is some great stuff!
    legacy image

Worked on the Supera again last night for a little bit, mainly to get it back up on the hoist to see how the oil pan is sealing. No leaks around the pan! But now I have to figure out why my intake manifold is covered in oil on the bottom side. It has both caked, and fresh oil on it.
Also, while under the car, I noticed that some of the lines were a little different, so I cleaned them up a bit and I found AN lines, that's a pleasant surprise!
    legacy image
    legacy image

And that is where I am at right now. Short term plans are:
-Retorque headgasket to 72 ft. lbs.
-Find upper end oil leak, replace what is necessary.
    -Finish carpet
    -New struts, and lowering springs
-Touch up what needs to be touched up on the exterior.
    Long term goals:
-2jzGE running on 7mGTE electronics, staying NA for the time being (NA-T in future)
    -R154 swap
    -New wheels

    2jzGE parts list:
    -2jz (obviously)
    -1jz/2jz to W58 bellhousing
    -2j w58 flywheel
    -2j w58 clutch
-<89 motor mounts, or BIC swap mounts
-I have a harness, ecu, injectors, etc. off my parts car
Most of the parts will be bought from driftmotion.com when the time and funds come my way.

I thought I would post up the progress I have made on the Supra on here.

    2/24/11
Well, I decided to start working on the Supra again, this time I have funds, and a
camera. Last summer, I purchased a 1987 N/A Supra, it runs and drives great, just needs a little cosmetic help here and there. For now, I plan on keeping it N/A until I can afford to go N/A-T and do it right.

    Worklist...
    Interior
    -New StockInteriors Black Carpet-DONE
-New Leatherette Seat Covers in Black and Burgundy-DONE
    -BillyM W58 Shifter bushings-DONE
    -89+ Climate Control-DONE
    -New Head Unit
-De-Ghettoize wiring and put the correct Sub wiring kit in-DONE
-Clean, clean clean all interior panels-Done
-Butcher parts car for unbroken interior hatch pieces
    Exterior
-NEED new front drivers and passenger side pre-89 grey mouldings, completely rusted-DONE
    -Re-paint passenger mud guard
    -Re-paint all window moudling
-Do something with hatch (any suggestions?)
    -Lowering springs
    -Wheels (XXR 502?) Eventually
    Engine
-Pull head and get checked and machined
    -Helicoil exhaust studs
    -Fel-Pro head gasket
    -ARP head studs
    -Clean, Clean, Clean

Thats the tentative list...more will be added as time goes by, for now, here are some pictures, none of progress, as I forgot my camera.

    -Finish shifter bushing install.
-Dremel out screws for foot rest thing on left of clutch, I do not think ill be installing it once the new carpet is in.
-Remove door panels to get rid of stupid ghetto old speaker wiring. (stupid p.o.)
    -Begin the long cleaning process.
    3/21/11
    -Carpet fitted
    -Seats Installed

The Supra is finally back on the road! Man does it feel good to be back behind the wheel. Finally got around to installing the rear hatch trim, 3rd brake light, and various other things. I got a bunch of pictures, so ill let them do the talking.

So the Supra is on the road, eating my money and I am loving every minute of it! I still need to get the carpet fully secured under the door sills, and do some other odds and ends, but so far I am very happy with the progress I have made on my tight little college budget. I will keep updating this as updates happen.

And to close, here is a picture of a '65 Baja that my dad built in the late 80s. Unfortunately he sold it, and since that day I have made a vow to myself that I will build another before I die.
    legacy image

I took a couple more parts off the parts car. First off I KNOW that the wing is red, but the PO put a turbo hatch on my car, so it had the mounting holes there and it was looking ugly. This way I have more incentive to get it painted. Besides, I do not think it looks that horrible anyway. I also took the shitty broken front lip off, it looks nicer without it now.

Well, there is an oil leak. So I put the supra on the hoist and it looks like it is coming from the front of the pan. Going to drop the subframe and pull the pan tonight. We will see how this goes. The car came with a fel-pro oil pan gasket, should I use it? Or should I use fipg or equivalent?
    Gotta love having a shop!

Its hard to tell, but in the second picture, it looks as though the bottom of the intake manifold is covered in oil too. What could this be from? Leaky valve covers?

Ok, I have a hoist also so it shouldnt be too bad. Hopefully that fixes the problem, it sure is annoying.

Wait, are you saying my wheels are not legit?? 😛 My goal with my interior is to get it about 50/50 burgundy to black ratio. I think the red looks pretty good once you start putting black in there also. Black shift boot, steering wheel, e-brake boot, armrest cover, door inserts, and black headliner will really change the look of the interior for the better I think.

Alright, I have an '87 MKIII, and just recently, I have noticed that when I take a corner at a decent speed, there is a slight clunk in what I think is the drivers front. It clunks once while turning one way, and will not clunk until I turn the other way. It also clunks (still, just once) if I hit a decent bump. I am thinking it might be a sway bar end link, but I also found something else that it could be, also on the sway bar...

I saw your supra for sale on supramania, I am northdakotakid on there, I would love to have your car, but my bank account is saying that I can't have it... I worked on the Supra again yesterday, mainly to check for leaks around my oil pan. And I found another leak, its up by the intake manifold, the bottom of the manifold is either caked with oil, and its wet with some fresh(ish) oil also. I also "cleaned" a little under there, and I found a pleasant surprise, AN fittings on my power steering!

I also have a relatively new problem that I will post in the tech section, I think it MIGHT be a sway bar link, and something else, but not sure.

Also, here is my '87 turbo parts car...engine has a spun bearing, and possibly a BHG, I just have to decide whether I want to build the 7m, or save and do a 2jzge with 7m electronics swap (trust me, its been done before, and works well).

Hey all, the name is John, and I dont really drive anything special, a 1997 Ford Escort is my daily driver, I also have a 1981 Kawasaki CSR 650 motorcycle. I also have a 1987 Toyota Supra in need of an engine, at least a short block. That is mainly my reason for joining. Thanks
