Took about 40+ lbs out last night and today. Everything else is pretty much stripped already.

      Just weighed the car;
      No engine
      No Tranny
      No Fuel
      No turbo/exhaust

2025 lbs. should be right around 3100 lbs. when back together.

So yesterday I was putting in the mock-up motor into the car. Put the tranny back in too and saw this.

The K-member cross bar sits higher than my Cobra one. Leaves the pan just exposed. If I pull a DaveH it won't be pretty.

              legacy image

I pulled it out last night and today pulled the one out of the Cobra and put it in. Looks much better. Motor isn't all the way dropped in on the drivers side that is why it is a little crooked.

I have it written down somewhere for the cobra. I won't be able to get you a number until I get everything installed and set my suspension up. My best guess would be somewhere around 17-18".

Being this is a lot lighter car you may want to lower that a couple inches if possible, or get really beefy wheelie bars.
You are getting it done though thats for sure. That thing ought to be running by next week.

The only way I could lower is if I relocate the steering rack.. It is possible, just some welding. I may ditch my motor mounts and go solids or motor plates. I was stretching the steal apart on my Energy Suspension ones.

EDIT; wheelie bars are for sissies

I have the top left ones in the pict. The outer shell was being pulled apart

Ohhh here we go with the wheelie bar - sissy argument again.
Wheelie bars are a safety device to me. Its got nothing to do with balls. On a 9 second car...errr no. On your car....yes. Get it all dialed in on our greasy little track then take it somewhere that hooks, when everything forward of the firewall is destroyed I will buy you a beer and get to say I told you so. 🙂

                          Im just sayin....

One of the changes I had planned on making was getting rid of the 1-5/8" exhaust tube and change out to 1-3/4". It should help it breath a little better. I started on one side today/tonight.

I can actually access the plugs so far.

good job bill! you just gonna run the downpipes out the side this time? would sure make stuff alot easier. BTW, you still running on-center housings on those turbos? If you are you should really find a pair of tang housings and you would probably pick up a good 150hp, on center housings are FTL big time

Thanx, going slow but I am making progress. I would like to go out the fenders but it is so obnoxious. I haven't decided. I went to tangs when I swapped to the 78's. I am hoping for some improvements up high with the larger tubing. Pretty much changed everything in the fall of 07' never saw huge gains. Everything that we did change made improvements though, so wasn't wasted time. The only thing that wasn't changed back then was heads and exhaust manifolds.

Have to have exhaust running out under the car if you want to play in RS or KS.

Yes, mild steel. I'm a cheap bastard. Don't have a tig either.. It was a kit I bought over 2 years ago. Figured a good time to use it. If I ever get the car done I think I'll make a trip to Dynotune to see if it made a difference or not. The only other change that I may do is have the intake cleaned up.

oh yeah it will definately make more power. most people say over 950 or so whp the 1.75 tubing will start showing noticable gains. Im glad you got rid of those on center POS's too, just dont like them! For exhaust you could do the turbines toward the fenders and run the exhaust down between the strut and the frame easy enough, and out through the fenders in front of the doors. That would still get you past the firewall i think, and would look/sound badass.
