Joel's house is safe. I just spoke with him on the phone about a half hour ago. His neighbor's dike failed and they are pulling sandbags and slowly letting it fill to the contingency dike in the street. Joel and his dad sandbagged around their house so they are protected from the neighbor. They are basically playing the waiting game now.

Then the height of the river jesus i have heard about 20 different heights...40.32,40.47,40 this 40 that and just 20 minutes ago i was told from my boss that it was at 40.75 and has been like that since 4:15??? NOW on the weather channel they say its a 42?? WTF man the info is just getting crazy....

They did a dry run with shutting down the interstate from Jamestown today. I'm sure they were testing how long it would take to completely clear it and reroute it. Theres no reason they closed it for as short as they did, only to reopen it. If we evac, it will be both sides of the road.

At first I did it for fun, then I realized I made the investment and had to do it!

My dad has the water down now. Still holding steady in Heritage Hills. Been that way since this am. Good sign for Fargo. Not sure if the other house is still making it.

Thanx Jim (63Vette) for the picture, bottom left house

                            Compared to your accurate info?

If you guys think every dike is going to make I think you're wrong..... I hate to say it, but something will fail somewhere before this is done. Do the city officials know it, probably, would they say it, never. These dikes have never been tested to these pressures and the extra weight we have on top of them.

if they build it right its got a chance, for every foot you raise it build it out 2 feet.

                                  we'll see.

Seriously though, Bill is right. The dikes are not even being stressed that hard yet and have to take a week more. It will be a miracle if they all hold.

I am more concerned about the permanent earthen dikes. The ones with how many extra pounds of sand on them.

Vette said this so it must be true. He's older, thus he knows about dikes and stress levels. Duh. Common people.
