Anyway, either way, I'm fairly certain Democrats will lose control of both branches in the next two elections.
We'll have to wait and see if the Republicans can get anything done...

Fail. :mad:Fuck. Give me a socially liberal, fiscally responsible republican and you have my vote next time around. Let see what they can do. Shits a fucking joke now.
Fix illegal immigration.
Stop blowing money on failed stimulus pacakges.
Stop giving aid to countries who undermine us.
Good god, 5 tier unemployment?
End financial institution bailouts.
Obama get his nose out of where it doesnt belong...
Why are we still supporting isreal? What the hell are the democrats thinking?
Mitt Romney maybe?

It would be interesting to see what a larger majority or even larger minority of TRUE libertarians would do for this country if they were in positions of power. A libertarian in power is kind of an oxymoron though it sort of seems like, someone who believes Government should have extremely limited power trying to get into that position of power.

A libertarian in power is kind of an oxymoron though it sort of seems like, someone who believes Government should have extremely limited power trying to get into that position of power.Except the fact that it would take nothing short of a miracle AND the second coming of Jesus for the Libertarian party to take any sort of majority in any branch of government. We're all stuck with either Republicans or Democrats. Neither party will every keep 100% of its promises, so a person is forced to make a decision based on which party they think will screw shit up less. I don't necessarily support or endorse 100% of the Democrats' ideas, but I personally believe that they are better than any realistic alternative.
I still think it's funny that there are some Democrats that are angry at Obama because he takes too many Republican ideas and puts them into his proposals, and Republicans still essentially refuse to vote for any bill that was put forth by a Democrat, even though many of the ideas were from Republican bills.
Regardless of what happens over the next 2 years, I cannot support a party that goes so far as to vote against legislation that would disallow corporations to put wording into job contracts that deny employees the right to press rape charges against other employees. Or a party that votes against a bill that would make it easier for native tribunal courts to prosecute non-native rapists. Or a party that votes against giving 9/11 responders healthcare benefits, not because they didn't agree with it, but because they were against the way it was being voted on. The list goes on and on. They didn't get the nickname, "The party of 'no', " for no reason. Over the last 2 years, Republicans have shown how self-centered they are, and how little they care about actually trying to change things for the better.
Someone prove me wrong. Please. I really want to believe that there is some small shred of decency left on the right.
/drunk rant.

I would have liked to see Romney stick it out for the whole election, he would have had my vote. Huckabee seemed an acceptable choice, until he disappeared. It's too bad that everyone without a brain ignores Ron Paul, he'd be a nice option.
At this point, voting is a waste of time. It's either death by firing squad or death by hanging, no real choice.

Everything you saidThe problem with most political things, and I'm willing to bet is the case with the things you mention, is that NOTHING is as cut and dry as you or I are made to believe. A bill that gives troops money also contains provisions that gives hookers free coke (exaggeration for effect), a bill to help cure cancer also has provisions to test whether or not dogs dream and if so, what the dreams are about.
Now, you do also realize that Democrats have done the same thing when Republicans have power too. They will rally against ANY bill, regardless of whether or not they agree with the general provisions of it, because it was put forth by a Republican. I seem to recall Democrats, the party that loves having a power grabbing Government, screaming bloody murder over the Patriot Act. By your logic, Democrats obviously do not care about the well being of the people of this country because the Government just needed an easier way to check on domestic based terrorism.
That right there is the issue, along with what you mentioned in your post. In the end both parties are really just there for themselves. Republicans are afraid of Gays/Illegal Immigrants/Muslims, Democrats are afraid of Profits/Competition/Common Sense/Christians. Neither one really gives a shit about YOU though, they just do what they have to do to get the reelection vote.

Mitt Romney is a fucking RINO. Any 'republican' who signs socialized health care into law, supports abortion, is for stringent gun laws, and supports civilized union is not a conservative. He raised taxes and fees in MA like 750 million/year and flip flops on issues to seem more conservative when he is campaigning. What the United States needs right now is the second coming of Ronald Reagan.

Mitt Romney is a toolshed. He doesn't stand for anything at all. That's the worst kind of politician.
I'm not aware of anyone I could vote for right now besides Ron Paul. Doesn't matter who the republicans pick -- I'm writing in Ron Paul (or maybe someone else will emerge before then).
Jim -- I think McCain might have been "some" better but probably not much. And you are right, even though I think Obama's ideology is wrong, there are several things that the said he would do that he COULD have and didn't that would have been the right things. There were a lot of things Bush did wrong that Obama and the dems promised to stop or fix, and then they fucking backed out of ALL of them.
A real democrat that actually cared about freedom for brown people etc would have gotten rid of all of the domestic wiretapping shit, would have addressed renditions, Guantanamo, etc. Obama did NONE of that. Infact, Obama apparently decided he liked how all that dictator power that Bush wrote in for himself felt, and so he kept it, 100%. Asshole.
It doesn't matter who we vote for in 2010 and 2012: Unless they are Ron Paul, or do all the shit Ron Paul would do, this country is done for. We're out of money, looking to start more wars in more places, and everyone hates each other. It's going to get uglier. Oh, and China keeps developing space weapons, so that when we say "Sorry, we don't have that 2 trillion we owe you", they can say "We bet you can find it, because we can see it just fine from up here"
