You forgot the $80K price tag.
I wonder how long it'll take for that motor to be available for swaps. I think it's new motor or has it been around for a while? I'm not to hip on motors per say as some of the other guys here.

Old / New is kind of subjective. It's based off of the modular V6 that's in everything nissan makes... the 350Z, the Murano, etc.

Gone are the days of the RB series engine... this will be the first V6 GT-R.

What strikes me as most interesting is the rear-mounted transaxle / transfer case. How are they getting power to the front wheels? Sending it back to the rear-mounted xfer case, and then sending it backup front via a secondary shaft? Seems ridiculous.

OTOH, that's almost what you need to do if you want the engine back far enough. Audi's have such a long front overhang because the entire engine is AHEAD of the front wheel centerline. On the B8 A4 platform audi actually mounts the clutch at the back of the transmission to save an extra few centimeters of engine-forward-placement.

I'm disappointed that the RB series engine is gone, and the V6 has been hopped up to be the underpinnings of the new GT-R. The power peak is at 6800 rpm, which is about where it was on an R32 RB engine (according to a quick search...)

On paper the car certainly looks like the real deal... the brakes are huge, the steering is fast... dual-clutch transmission (like Audi DSG)... and it's still going to have the bomb-ass AWD system. I think it's going to be quite heavy this time around... 3800 lbs ?

reports have it 10% lighter than a 350z whose curb weight is 3339...so right around 3000 lbs. Basing this off the info I found at Edmunds

The payoff, claims Nissan, is that while the GT-R's body has 10 percent more surface area than that of the Nissan 350Z, the new car's body-in-white is actually 10 percent lighter overall. And the GT-R has an almost ludicrously slippery 0.27 coefficient of drag (Cd).

I spoke with the Sales Manager at Gateway Nissan yesterday and he said that there will be 1500 per year and they will only be 'pre-sold'. Deposit is $5000 and you get to pick every option (color, interior, etc...). Pretty darn nifty if you ask me!

Also, exhaust manifold and exhuast housing on the turbo are casted as one piece. claims that it improves efficiency. Thust making upgrading a costly thing being you need 2 turbos, 2 manis, and 2 new DPs. From what I understand unless ghetto mods are done, that is the only way to upgrade turbos.

When one hits the states, the 1st dealer that gets most of this stuff. has a person or 2 on the huge 240/Z car site, Complete inside/outside/underbody pics will be posted. Ill get them on here.

I am pretty pumped about this car 0-60 3.5 and 1/4 in 11.7.

I bet there will be some sweet aftermarket for these.

I wonder fi the drivetrain will be somewhat like a Subaru with the front axles coming right out of the tranny.

No. That's what Audi does also, but that's not something you can do when the transmission, center diff, and rear diff are all at the back of the car.

Fascinating. I noticed the offset shaft in one of the other underbody photos, but the exhaust was in the way of the center-shaft, so i didn't see the 2 parallel shafts. I just figured the offset shaft was the driveshaft from the conventional transmission to the conventional rear diff.
