I judge that everyone who calls a pickup a truck is indeed a hick...See, I think the opposite. I grew up on a farm calling them pickups, but EVERYONE I knew from a town larger than ~5000 people called them trucks.

I think pickup sounds retarded, i don't know very many ppl that refer to them regularly as pickups, but if anything, pickup sounds more hickish. I drive a truck.

i laugh when people call their ford/chevy/dodge a "Truck", wanna see a truck, go down to Mecca Stamart, you'll find trucks there

mazda b2200 - makes me: dunno, I get dirty looks. That's not a real truck! ..no shit.
Acura Integra (clean, no exterior mods)- Uncle Ben's Instant Rice. Pull me over, I must be drifting.
1st gen CRX - holy fuel economy, batman. Makes me: In the way. Just pass me. I can't go faster.
80 CX500 - "you have a motorcycle?" ..makes me: a pesky biker. like two months a year.

I have to laugh sometimes when seeing a great big pickup (F350 for example) that's tearing through the snow and acting fearless, cutting me and everyone else driving sensibly off. When I hypotheticallyl follow him to Kmart, expecting to see a 6'4" 260 lb hick get out but instead see the world's tallest midget exit.....I have to laugh. Things aren't always as I expect them to be.All hypothetically of course.
Its the small mans syndrome.

anytime i see a "nice" SUV (lexus, MB ML class, navigator, etc), i assume the driver is a fat man who is not very intelligent, or a rich woman who is not very intelligent.
anytime i hear an american pickup truck with loud exhaust, i assume that the driver is an asshole
anytime i see a sport/compact/import with mis-matched color body parts, OEM or otherwise, i assume that they are driving a 90hp automatic and are excited about prom
no matter who i see, i assume that I will pass them under braking before the next turn and can get along with my business. But sometimes someone actually gets on the gas a bit and I am pleasantly surprised

You assume people driving luxury SUV's are not very intellegent?? Im guessing on average, the reason they can afford a nice vehicle is that they have made some intellegent decisions as far as work/investing/saving/money management.

If they're so damn smart, they wouldn't be driving such an impractical, profitable-for-the-auto-makers, overpriced, pile of ass.
Most people lease / make payments on cars, and the more expensive the car, the more often that's the case.
Debt financing a luxury automobile also is not typically a sign of vast intelligence or sound financial decision making. Leasing a luxury vehicle is basically renting an image, which may or may not be a good investment, I suppose.
