Bill, I thought everybody could rebuild/modify GM Turbo 400 transmissions blindfolded :icon_scratch:

Do you have any info on the brand of parts used on the original build ?

Well I guess I'll see you Thursday night. I can drink beer while you are putting it together. Nothing really wrong with the parts that were in it. They were just your typical TH-400 rebuild parts for racing applications just not good enough I guess. I talked to a guy with a heavy car like mine. He rolled over 6 sprags before he finally changed out the front drum to fit a 36 element sprag, hasn't had any issues with it. Hopefully this will take care of things. Next the rearend or the motor will go.

UPS FTL! I have always had better luck with USPS Priority Mail. 2-3 day delivery(2 days most, sometimes even overnight), and it's a ton cheaper than UPS. Then again, coming from a vendor sometimes there is nothing you can do.

At first I did it for fun, then I realized I made the investment and had to do it!

Found a torn seal in the direct drum.. Was told that would explain the transbrake issues. Also would cause the clutches to fry.

Sounds like you have a clutch pack melted together.:icon_scratch:

Don't need it, I found my 18 lb'r. Got it apart again, only thing that is hurt is the reverse band clutch. For some reason it isn't applying hard enough.

I guess I didn't mention but I still had T-brake issues after re-build. I took it out Monday night with 20+ lbs. for 20 minutes. 1-2-3 are all good. Beat on the t-brake and some fast backing up, finally got both to fail, no reverse or transbrake.

Tranny back in Friday night. Cruised around Saturday for a couple hours. Seems to work good. The T-brake works good too.

Now the bad news again, was playing with the 2-step (just wired it up) and started playing around with it. Anything under 3500 rpm's car sounds like it wants to fall apart. Tried 4000 4500 5000. 5000 rpm's boost was climbing then I blew the cooler line off. Rolling white smoke enough to fill the shop. Tonight I pulled the front clip, bumper support, headlight assy. and intercooler to replace all lines to cooler...

This is wayyyyy tooo much fun..................

ps. don't use pushlock hose for tranny lines with a brake, they don't like a lot of heat apparently. Teflon line braided next..
