I wont believe it until DelSlow says it is so!

      heheh 🙂

Seriously though, Bill is right. The dikes are not even being stressed that hard yet and have to take a week more. It will be a miracle if they all hold.

I am more concerned about the permanent earthen dikes. The ones with how many extra pounds of sand on them.

I ended up leaving for the night because of...drum roll...misinformation. I got a knock from the FPD telling me to evac, then later I find out it wasn't for my 'area.'

          Swing and a miss.

Look at it this way, why hasn't the city just added to the existing dikes and leave them that way. Instead we add sand bags every time there is a threat of a flood. Things that make ya go hmmmm.. hmmmmm.....

But wtf do I know.. I drive a Mustang

                Well, on a lighter note.

I was at Michelson Park today with about 200 other people and we were going to town raising the bags they had there. After about 4 hours or so, the NG/City of Fargo engineers measured it and said "Holy crap why are we doing this?" Apparently with all the help that people were giving it was no built to about 45'.

I was out for 17 hours Thursday. I had just gotten home and put my feet up to relax when the phone rang. My in-laws decided with the raised crest to go all night to bag their house in S Moorhead (Tessa Terrace).

Found out Friday afternoon that my buddy's house that I spent Monday, Tuesday, and part of Thursday at out in Oakport had water up to the ceiling in the basement of their bi-level. He had a 5.5 foot braced plywood dike good to 43 feet. Don't know how it failed but there was already seapage Thursday afternoon when I left so I don't think it breached. On Thursday morning I watched the water come in and fill his entire yard 8 inches deep in 15 mintues. Here are a couple pics of the dike we built...what a bitch to see it go in vain.

still waiting for any evacs. There were no severe breaches last night. the water level is starting to level off. but probably due to cold weather and possible ice jams

Fargodome is in standby. We have 12 semis loaded and waiting on the floor and quite a few pallets left to keep loading. We'll be staffing 24-7 until at least Wednesday it sounds like.
