Reckless Driving ticket claim- Legal advice please!

So this morning I was at economics in Berry Hall (A university classroom cluster down town)... I headed back to the main campus with 3 other girls after the class down 10th street.
Apparently I pass some old guy and really pissed him off. I dropped the girls off at the union and proceeded to the pay lot just north of the union. As I am sliding my credit card into the pay machine this old guy (70+) glances back at me with a sheet of paper in his Dodge Durango and remarks;
Old guy- "I got your licenses plate number!"
Me- "Oh yeah buddy, did you?"
Old guy- "Yeah, and youre getting a TICKET!!"
Me- "Oh okay bud, I'm sure.."I pulled away from the pay machine and proceeded to park my car. The older guy pulled into a parking spot close to me with his window rolled down ranting on his cell phone "Yup, yup, hes still here!"
I was in a hurry to get to some group work at the union and didn't think much of this old guy.
About 30 mins ago, I was sleeping in my dorm room when my suite mate knocks on my door- "Hey man there is a cop here to talk to you"
A short, 25ish year old female campus cop looks up at me with a 20 page pile of papers, including a full printed picture of my student ID (Like I am a murder suspect or some shit), and remarks:
Cop-"Do you have the keys to your car!?!??!"
Me- "Yah.... "
Cop- "Are you the only one with these keys?!?"
Me- "yes..whats your point?"
Cop- "You know exactly the point, an older gentle man approached you in the pay lot saying he had your plate numbers. Well he was a retired police officer!!! He informed us that you were driving at a high rate of speed down 10th street in a school zone!"
Me- "Oh okay, yeah that guy. He was freaking out"
Cop- "Were you driving at a high rate of speed?"
Me- "No... there were 3 other girls in the car with me"
Cop- "Well that's all I needed to know, its your word against his word in court over this reckless driving ticket. Care to give your friends names?"
Me- "No I don't want to drag them into it if I don't have to."
Cop- "Okay well is this the right address to send the court papers?"
Me- "Yeah, that's my address..."Cop walks off all like an X girlfriend that has dirt on you or something.
.................Seriously?
Can they cite me for a reckless driving ticket just based off of some old, pissed off retired cop's BS claim???
I called my father and all he remarks is; "That's what you get for diving a car like that, better call your friends."

As for the campus police, they are Fargo PD as well...they have just as much jurisdiction off campus as they do on, as do Fargo PD.
The ticket...nothing will come of it more than likely. I'd get your female friends involved because when it is 4 against 1, this will not go down in old farts favor. Will it see the courtroom? Knowing how stupid the system is I could see that happening. Will you be found guilty? I HIGHLY doubt it.

WOW...seems to me like alot of you people have NEVER been to court...
"innocent until proven guilty" my ass.....IF this does go to court, and the guy who turned you in shows up for court, your screwed. But i dont think it will, some lady called the cops on me for passing her at a high rate of speed on the i-state and she then proceeded to follow me to my house to tell me she called the cops on me, so i called the cops myself, they came and talked to me and said that nothing would come of it.
But like i said, if this does go to court, and the guy who turned you in shows up, you will LOSE, unless you have a lawyer, but who actually hires a lawyer to get out of a traffic violation?

99% of cases where the cop wasnt there to witness the act wont hold up. Just say the old guy was tailgating you and you were tryin to get away from him. then he proceded to fallow you and cause a disturbance in a public area. then its your word against his too. when he says you have no proof of that, you say "my story is just as true as yours" or sumthin like that
