Since this type of dyno doesn't rely on friction from the tires it wouldn't have wheel spin issues with big power.

Exactly why this dyno is so awesome. You can put a car on the dyno, get the initial results, then just change say oil or air filter and see a true difference. It eliminates a lot of the x factors from a rolling drum style dyno... This dyno can also hold your car at a certain RPM for as long as you want! Like I said before, the dyno controls the car, the car doesn't control the dyno! VERY BADA$$ design!

The money a lot of us would save in gas driving to the cities...that could mean a few extra pulls if the dyno was right in our backyard...im totally for it

I can see myself using it 2-3 times a year

I think it is a great idea. The cost and time of a trip to the cities along with having to clear your schedule for a road trip ect is not something people up here love doing. I have tried multiple times to get an appoitment to make the trip but have not been able to because of scheduling conflicts and their shop hours. People who are awd who do not have the option of a spool should be crossing their fingers for this, especially if you do private appointments. I would spend my 500 bucks with you rather then a trip to st paul. The only thing I would say is a downer is the negative attention associated with the noise of running a dyno on main. Police already see mufflers as a problem, what are they going to say about a v8 running full throttle with no exhaust on main st?

I think the big problem in the past with noise is running it at night. We would have it 24/7 and if nighttime became an issue, we would just make sure to have the tuning during the day... Our new location really doesn't have a lot of businesses or buildings around us. If we did it on the eastside of the building, or indoors, I don't forsee a major issue. Good point, and we will have to consider this as well! It is just gonna be super nice if we do this, having the rolling hub adaptors being able to go anywhere at anytime!

I haven't researched this dyno all that much but my question is, if the dyno does the driving, how do you shift gears?

Also, if I were to bring a car in would you let me tune it myself or am I required to have a tintmasters employee tune the car for me? I'd prefer to tune the car myself.

EDIT: If I was able to tune the car(s) myself, I could see me personally using it 3-6 times per year.

the dyno doesn't do the driving. One of its options is to hold the car at a certain RPM. It does this by adding load so that the motor can't go above that RPM.

                  More Info about that:

In about a year and a half, two years when the 6s's have put on that new turbo and problems have shown up or not I'd have it on their.... Have you thought about one of those systems you can do custom computer tuning or do you do that already??? Mike's custom truck offers that can't remeber which company it's in with but he sends off the info from his dyno to the computer chip company and they email him a new set of param's and he burns them to a chip and re-dyno's it to see what happens...

Honestly I'm kind of surprised you didn't have a dyno already

when i was in NY a mazda shop had one of the dynapack dynos and absolutely swore by it...ive seen em use it on TV etc and have heard nothing but good things about it. Honestly I would love to have one in town instead of having to make sure one is in town or worrying about having my car make the trip largely untuned etc...it would be awesome when i go PFC so i don't blow it up haha...i say go for it...

At first I did it for fun, then I realized I made the investment and had to do it!

I could see my self using a couple times a year maybe more depending on how fast the performance mods come. Also if i get enough mods i would consides tuning yearly. 75 for like 4 pulls or how many pulls you thinking. I dont know about the 112 for tuning an hour. How long does it take to tune a car roughly?

Only thing I don't like about Dynapack is that they tend to have higher numbers than traditional dyno configurations and it doesn't take the rotating mass of the wheels into consideration when tuning (whether this matters or not is another story all together). I'd probably use the dyno 4-6 times a year and almost exclusively for tuning. The $112/hour, does that include having you guys tune the car or can I tune myself at a reduced rate? Would you guys be going to training schools on AEM tuning and UTEC/Hydra tuning? How about Hondata? Not that those matter to me, I'll just tune it myself, but it will probably make a difference to others that want tuning done. Also, would you guys be offended if (for example) me, Kirk, Joe, Stephen & Schulzy paid for someone like Jorge Rift (Payne Technologies) to come to fargo and tune our vehicles (meaning a tuning day by the top tuner in the Subaru community in the united states)?

How about offering a discount if you buy X amount of dollars, you can tune for a Y% discount the day of your appointment...maybe get some baseline runs in and then see what kind of gains you got from the mods?

If I sound negative, I apologize, I am just trying to throw some ideas your way and I really hope that you do go through with this (when can I book my appointment???)

ive done 1 dyno session in my day, i forget i think RS Motors in minneapolis ran me 120 ish for 2.5 hours, with a piss load of pulls.

id still rather have one local. you never know, it could be a failure it could be success. but probably the whole state of nd (awders) and what not, northern minnesota would probably jsut come to fargo rather then go to minneapolis.

That, and if you can prove yourself to be competent tuners, you will draw the Mpls crowd as well. RS Motors is good.....if you have lots of time to be on the dyno. Fortunately for me I get my dyno time there for next to nothing (literally....long story, don't ask) So I think if you can prove to be good tuners and can provide a service at a good price, you can draw crowds from up to a couple of states away.

I would tune at least once a year I would say... Assuming I move down there...

Also, would you guys be offended if (for example) me, Kirk, Joe, Stephen & Schulzy paid for someone like Jorge Rift (Payne Technologies) to come to fargo and tune our vehicles.

Shane will give you a deal on the dyno and you will still end up paying $500 each.

It's not worth it. Take it from someone who shelled out $200 for a 1 hour session with him. He works for http://www.pandlmotorsports.com/ now, not payne.

Might as well just get someone local that is good with a UTEC....

oh and its a dynapack, not a dyno jet. People bitch about dyno's reading high and low, that doesn't matter, consistency is what does.
