Don't you need more than just the long block for a CRX?

At first I did it for fun, then I realized I made the investment and had to do it!

Id go with the B20, get ya nice torque out of that, plus easy to mod with a bigger motor....if money wasn't an issue, you all know what id say....go K series 😉

      Ry

edit: ya, Id say go with the B20 and get higher compression pistons. You'll see a huge gain in power/torque out of that motor compared to the B16. Plus it is essentially cheaper at first.

Your gonna pay at least 1500 for a B-16 from a reputable dealer, but man do they pull...talk to LankorDie

How bout a D16Y8 then a mini log turbo kit=B16 killer

          Stock D series with a T3/T4 57 trim@10psi went 11.9 in a 92 Hatch

my homies plan was just to do a B20 and up the compression, then it turned into a full scale build, because once you dig into the bottom end, you miight as well rebuild the block...then the head...then everything else...

Anyways, B16s are fun out of the box. Good transmission, decent power, loud ass VTEC. B20s are cheap, yeah. But you need to buy a different tranny, different intake manifold, and some other shit just to make it swapable...The price will probobly equal out...

I'd go with the B16. It will be more fun, less work, and more daily drivable...

my .o2 buy a z6 or y8 and put head studs in and boost it too 10 psi or build it for around 1000.00 pistons/rods/bearings.... and run 20 psi+

I made 250 whp on 10 psi and ran 12.2@113 tufte made 261whp and ran 11.9@113 there is no all motor B20's b18's b16's that can compete with the D16 boosted it would probly cost your about the same to do a swap or boost a D16..

My D16 now makes 400 whp depending which dyno your on some read low and some high.. and runs 11.5 @125

Looks like my d-16 hatch is the quickest and fastest honda around.!!!!

my thoughts too. for budget minded people, D16Z6 is the way to go, boosted!!! If you are on a serious budget, you'll have to settle for a swap and nothing else.

I believe he told me that he wasn't looking for boost. He's just looking for a good daily motor that can pull a low 14. A strong stock b16 will get that done for him. And judging by his budget, he doesnt have the $ to buy a d-series swap ($300-400 for a motor and $50-100ish for a Si tranny), buy the engine management (safc would be sufficient, which is cheap $100 for a used safc1), plus the turbo kit too...OBD0 b16 swap can be held for $1500...you just have to look. It's also a bit cheaper bc it's a cable tranny. He can also just then buy a stock JDM obd0 vtec ECU after swapping in the motor and be done...sure, is a boosted d-series faster? hell yea...but he didn't ask for anything that's crazy fast...just something quick that's fairly easy...

                    B16 FTW!

and if nothing else, just say you bought the b16 bc it has CRAZY mad loud JDM VTACK y0:icon_cheers: :icon_thumright:

Well my budget is depending on it i can sell my current car and then i will have a little more to spend.... I would like to run something faster. But i want to spend less then $1500. I have been talking to some people about the D series motor boosted and it sounds kind of kool..

I've said this like 50 times before when people ask for opinions on Honda swaps, and here is mine: complete LS motor/trans swap should run you less than $1000, or buy a whole wrecked integra to take everything out of and then part out the rest of the car, and then get some small slicks, and a small shot of nitrous like a 50 or maybe 75 shot, and you'll run low 13s for very little money. If you can find a good deal on a wrecked integra that you can part out, you will basically get all the parts you want for free, I've done it, twice.

I like troy's idea the most...LS torque is very nice for DD...and if you want, LS's are known for liking boost also.

Not to mention an LS motor is easily as fast as a B16, if not faster!

definitly agree. Way better and more usable power band... Then, eventually, U could always go LS-vtec.

The b20 would be cool since no one has one around here... but It's gonna cost u more. U ever thought about a dual cam ZC swap. they make 140hp at the crank, same as an ls, and the cool thing is u can use your D series tranny! this way, U can save money by just buying the block.

                                      no race car? becuz homeowner...

A LS w/B16 tranny, now thats a good cheap combo. My JDM B16a from Hmotorsonline cost $1300 shipped w/Hasport mounts. Then you need, Clutch $250+, Flywheel resurfaced $35, Axles $200, Shift linkage $150, And I would say another $200 for fluids/seals/random shit.

I would say a full LS swap w/b16 tranny & clutch would run you around $1300 for a strong LS.

If I could do it all again I think I would have went with a 100% stock JDM D15b vtec. Hope this helps.

^ Was that with axles ECU and all the goodies? If so thats a good deal, considering it came with hasports. That and where was it shipped to? Your door?
