Interstate Dragways Rules question

Just a few questions on Rules at the track..
First off I am going to be running a convertible, am I going to catch any flak for that? I realize that i have to run with the top up. Is there anything special that I need being a convertible.
Also in reading the NHRA rule book, convertibles that have an ET lower then 13.99 must have a driver restraint system. Is this rule enforced at the track? I am hoping to run lower then that. Will I get kicked out if I run faster then this without a 5 pt harness?
Thanks in advance.

used to be 13.99, this year the regulations changed to 13.49 (hardtops changed from 11.99 to 11.49).
You'll almost deffinetly want a helmet for starters (not sure they'll let verts run w/o helmet period) and I think it'll all depend on who's working if you get the boot for running too fast. IIRC there was a cobra out there running sub 11.49 and he got talked to a couple times but I don't think he was ever booted.

I had planned on bringing a helmet already. Looking at the rules I dont see anything in particular other then the Roll bar at 13.49 and the 5pt harness at 13.99 and under. I have neither of course. :icon_blackeye:

You will need a helmet and the top up. Faster than 13.99 and the driver does need a harness. The track is a NHRA track and if anything were to happen to someone that was allowed to go down the track illegal to nhra rules, then the track would lose its NHRA status. so it is enforced quite a bit.
If you havent run before you will also need long pants and at minimum a tshirt, preferably a long sleeve shirt, or we will turn you around and send you out until you change.Hope this helps you out alittle bit.

Thanks for the clarification!

The battery do need to have a hold down, and no, a bungee cord does not work. I tried that one myself once. it didnt work. If the vehicle has a trunk mounted battery, I beleive it needs to be in a mounted battery box, and im not sure exactly on this one but i beleive it needs to have a firewall between the battery and the driver. I dont know all the rules, I just announce there.

It really depends on the weather and if we can get enough heat in the track early on. But I'll see what we can do for ya. Its the best I can offer for ya. Im thinking if we start right at 12 around 1 or so there would be enough heat in the track to give er a rip.
