So I took off the oil pan on the LS block I just bought and my heart dropped... What should I think of this... He said that it has never had oil ran through it so I assume thats why it's rusty, but what if it flaked off inside, or something else hppened... What woudl you guys do? BTW, its just surface rust, and it flaked off very easily once I took it out.

I think I would ge a new pick up.....I hope the rest does not look like that
The Rest doesn't it all looks clean and new. It kinda looks like the machine shop installed everything and lightly oiled it all, and then he put the new pil pickup on and the baffle and pan and didn't put any oil on it to keep it from rusting. The Motor was kept upside down w/o a head or an oil drain plug. -
holy scat, good luck with that, i hope the rest isnt like that.

that woulda scared the piss outta me

It looks good to go, just put it together and run it............... if you want to waste your time and money yanking it and having to rebuild it again. You should really have the whole thing disassembled and cleaned, then have the machine shop measure EVERYTHING before it goes back together to make sure it's all been done properly. Do it right or do it twice.
