That list is based off of unemployment. I'm not a racist or anything but you look at that list and I find that it is interesting that all those cities are mainly white communities. Compared to New Orleans that has one of the worst unemployment rates. And they wonder why they have this stereotype... Plus up here you have to work to pay your heat bill...Down south it ain't as big a deal.

Just look at the bosnians. They don't have to work to pay for the heat of a Mercedes...

Being as Fargo would be like the 2nd or 3rd largest city in MN I don't really find that overly amazing. Plus the pay is better in MN so suck on that.

            10 largest cities (2005 est.): Minneapolis, 372,811; St. Paul, 275,150; Rochester, 94,950; Duluth, 84,896; Bloomington, 81,164

            10 largest cities (2005 est.): Fargo, 90,672

So it'd be the 4th largest City, and I'd be willing to bet in 5 years it'd be the 3rd

I still say ND sucks though

The twin cities is growing at a ridiculous rate. I don't think that it will be the 3rd, nevermind the fact that Fargo is in ND and not MN.

property taxes are only part of the equation. I'll take my property taxes being slightly higher, since my income tax is lower in ND.

Unless you fall into the HCE bracket.

I couldn't believe that the annual average salary is only 32k, even with the low cost of living (being the annual average salary in the US is 40,409, that's quite a significant difference)

less people+a few universitys=bad paying jobs to lower it.

Plus in ND they reduce the percentage of HCE to annual interest held in business to only 5%....which is nonsense. (granted there are several "groups" that can make an employee fall into this category)

But, once again the cost of living is low, so I can't complain too much.

I bitch about many things having to do with living in MN/ND, but I keep coming back....plus i like paying to live in a good size, well built home, in a nice part of town > crappy condo in shitty neighborhood.

Also, not having to finish college and fight for a job with a million other people rocks my socks off.
