The e-brake is just an output signal, usually negative trigger. Put a test light or multi-meter up to the wire of the e-brake. If I remember right, it will be neutral, then when you pull brake slightly, it will turn to a negative constant pulse. The deck, at least when I had Kenwood indash, it was just an input signal from your ebrake wire, which is just a ground signal. I just put that wire to ground and it was good to go to simulate the ebrake being pulled. Maybe your deck is more advanced, but if the wire diagram just wants you to hook it up to your (-) ebrake wire, then its just an input wire that requires a ground pulse. I could be way off, but I was under the impression that the "clicks" of your ebrake lever was the ratchet type device for the amount of pressure is applied to the ebrake line. The harder you pull, the more pressure is applied to your brakes from the line (cable). Your ebrake is just a contact switch when it comes to the wiring portion of it.
The only way your deck would know if your car is moving, is if you tapped into the VSS wire or something similar to it, which is usually used for NAV systems. Other than that or a mercury type switch or something, dont know how "smart" their decks are getting, but how else could it tell if your car is moving or not?

switching a toggle a bunch of times u wanted to watch a your screen would just get annoying... -
Do you have the install guide for your Alpine head unit? It will say in there what exactly the head unit needs to see before you can watch movies. You can rig it up with a couple toggle switches like what was said, but 2FNLOUD hit the nail on the head when he said to use the TR-7 module. I currently have one installed in my vehicle with my Alpine head unit and it works like a champ. If you need one of those modules, PM me, they are in stock.

Alpine sucks for this what it needs to see is
- 12 volts from footbrake
- ground from park brake, ground removed, ground again
- 12 volts removed
I have mine thru toggles (already built into the dash), I will have to look at the E-bay deal to see if that would work, I doubt it though...

Actually it is much easier to get around Alpine's safety feature than some other brands. I know Pioneer has a certain model or models that you can't do anything to make it play video while driving. With the Alpine, all you have to do is buy this magical little module and hook it up to a few wires. Like I said, I have one that I use every day in my own vehicle, and it works perfectly.

This one is a programmable processor, pretty kewl..
