not trying to sound like an ass here, but it seems like traction control would be more necessary on cars that have to turn BOTH directions than it would be for cars that turn ONE direction....you can probably set the suspension up easy enough for NASCAR to safely run w/o traction control.if you've ever heard the term used in a nascar race called "like stepping on eggshells" they are talking about how the drivers have to ease onto the throttle, otherwise they'll end up in the wall...traction control would help nascar drivers a great deal...they do have traction control, its called skill with the accelerator and knowing how far you can push it before it breaks loose...one direction or not, you cant have traction 100% of the time....another thing is that nascar's get "loose" all the time, meaning the rear end wants to slip out...traction control would help that problem emmensly, but its outlawed in nascar, otherwise im sure all the cars would have it.

It might sound easy, go rent F1 2002 from easports and you'll see.never said it was easy...im just comparing the two different styles
id also like to add that yes, f1 cars are faster and have more technology, but with the technology comes driving aids which take away from the "skill" part of racing...its almost like cheeting

yes, but nascar drivers get to change tires, F1 does not (ok...they can change ONE tire per race...not one set, one tire.) Trust me traction control doesn't prevent spinouts in F1, they get loose plenty often as well.

-
no, its like saying my wrx tires can last as long as a honda insights can if I am a good enough driver.
-
if he had enough skill to find a really really long downhill portion he could

-
well, last year F1 could make tire changes (3 I think, someone wanna chime in on this that knows for sure), they found a way to run w/o a tire change...they did it through research and driver skill

Dirt track is fun....probably because i have family that races sprint cars....and my dads bar sponsers alot of SuperStock and Modified Cars
-
yeah real spendy....and you dont really make alot of money doing it....even if you are really good.
I don't remember for sure...but for my cousin to get on with the World Of Outlaws it was gonna cost him $100k for a Contract.

yeah and that's the most they can win in one race... Knoxville or the Big One in Eldora... me and my parents go to Knoxville for the nationals every year for like 8 years now... they dont make near as much as any other racer, and late models are even worse... for their big circuit the most they win is 50k a race i think.... and that's when they are here...
-
hmm...I didnt think they won that much...but your probably right.

A couple fun facts
Did you know when a Formula 1 driver lifts his foot off the foot pedal at 300kph (185mph), his racecar will slow at over 1G just due to the aerodynamic drag - a rate equivalent to the maximum braking of a typical road car. By the time he has put his foot on the brake pedal, and the brakes have heated up to their working temperature, the car will have slowed by 200kph and the brakes will add around 4G to the effort to slow the car, instantaneously absorbing over 2500hp.Just over 2 seconds later, he will be travelling at 100kph (60mph), and ready to ease off the brake pedal as he approaches the apex to the second gear corner ahead. A current Formula One car is capable of a transverse acceleration of up to 4G, whereas a road car does not exceed 1G.
Did you know that The tyres of a F1 car have to be filled with air with 0% moisture or the moisture will have an impact on the expanded volume at operating temperature. The optimum tyre temperature of an F1 car is about 90`C
Automatic transmissions are prohibited in the technical regulations, and most of the drivers use semi-automatic. He simply presses a button on the side of his steering wheel. This allows the driver to change gear in one or two hundredths of a second!
