My DSM is friggen slow. Any thoughts?

So apparently 14.38 is a pretty piss poor time for a DSM. I knew it was slow but I didn't think it was that serious. Well people, THIS IS SERIOUS. So serious in fact that I felt compelled to start a new thread instead of shitting up another one.
So, any thoughts?
I DO have a slow 1g dsm. I blame part of it on not being able to avoid the waterbox, and the other part on my shitty tune. What I have to tune my fuel and timing is an eeprom ecu, MMCD on an ancient palm, and a strech of road I know its really rough right now but it doesnt knock or pull timing too bad. I'm not sure what else could be wrong with it. Shouldn't be boost leak, I've tested and fixed those (unless more crept in).
My drivetrain looks like this: emmisions removed, aircan hacked w/ k&N filter, 1g MAF w/ honeycombs still intact, stock intake, 14b turbo w/ MBC set at 17psi no spike, stock intercooler cleaned, stock bov, tb elbow smoothed, stock block/head, exhaust manifold runners smoothed, ported exhaust side of turbo and wastegate area, big wastegate flapper (dont remember what size), 2.5 apex'i DP, spun steel cat, 3in catback w/ magnaflow muffler, fuel is stock injectors, 3000gt fuel pump, eeprom ecu.
I'll be out this weekend to give it another shot, maybe you all can give me some pointers on what I can do.
BTW who all lives in amber valley, I see a ton of nice cars out there, I'm sure you've seen the green machine out front by amber crossing.

No wideband, basically what I'm going off of (using guides from the interwebs) is logs of o2 sensor voltage and knock counts at rpms. Thats what most people use when using this setup as I understand (eeprom ecu, palm logger w/ mmcd). I do the actual editing using evilscribe with a template kind of thing for 1g dsm so I'm pretty sure I'm tuning in the right spots. The thing is though, without a wideband or dyno, just a 3rd gear pull, and with the slow sample rate of the palm, the tune ends up very rough.

Based on what you have as far as mods go (very modest), you may be able to net a high 13 sec pass at best. It may be nothing more than launch/ driving technique. Launch alone can do alot for cutting time off your e.t.That could be it, I was unable to avoid the water box as doing so would have involved going into the median and knocking over a bunch of stuff, so I did actually get some wheel spin at the launch.
I was launching at around 4k as I am still on a stock clutch as I haven't changed out my tranny yet for one with working 2nd gear syncros. I've got an ACT 2600 sitting in the garage tho.

Is it still a cat or a test pipe? (that may be choking some airflow)I would also get rid of that mas for a 2nd gen...even upgrade the injectors...
Do you still have stock IC piping?
That would entail getting an AFC or other form of fuel controller.

I am planning on doing that, trying to save up for a few mods here next month.

yep, sure do.
also im running 91 octane

Yeah thers lots of nice cars there though, 2 evo's, 2 sti's, nice older 2.5rs..ect.

My wife drives it since our other car isn't working right now. And the belt does suck.

Ive only read a little bit about that program...but cant you compensate for larger injectors as well?....Yep, you sure can, you can also do a stutter box, take out fuel cut, reset knock counts, and actually make the range of tuning wider.
I have a heavily moddified ecu program waiting to go in but im scurred cuz I'm not sure if I did everything right

If you are going to do a 2g mas, make sure you upgrade to 550s. Buy an AFC at the same time. If you dont want to spend 300 bucks on a wideband, take it to Tintmasters and have them tune it on theirs.Im hoping to get a cheap FMIC setup, injectors, 2g mas, and a dsmlink setup coming up here next month.

Don't know if they would help too much, but you could try investing in some iridium plugs (Denso, NGK) for better spark. They're supposed to be particularly beneficial for forced induction applications.ngk brp7es or brp6es is all you need, dont spend money on expensive plugs....
