I am trying to remove the sprockets on my bike. I dont know what the last person did, but they are way to tight to remove by hand. I actually ended up stripping my socket. Any suggestions on how to remove a bolt that is this tight?

soak it in a quality penetrating fluid like JB-80 or PB Blaster. then wrench on it, sometimes use a box end wrench and a cheater on the end of it to get really stubborn bolts out.

next step is heat. heat it up then try wrenching on it. but dont forgot ya heated it up. it hurts. haha

Bad idea. If the bolt is not stripped you will strip it by using vice grips

I have found that just heating the bolt works 95% of the time

I have a soldering iron, could I just set it on the bolt and let it warm up?

Also, do you think an impact driver might work?

No, soldering iron probably won't work. Use an impact with a 6 pt socket.

ALWAYS use a 6pt socket for tight bolts...

At first I did it for fun, then I realized I made the investment and had to do it!

No. A soldering iron is for wires, not bolts.

Just go to the store and buy a propane torch. They are pretty cheap. Heating the bolt up along with a large breaker bar will remove it pretty easily.
