Or you can go to Oreilly and get the proper tool for like $8

          Edit $9.99 I just looked.

depends on the style clamp...there are two common ones...both have special tools to do it but both can be done without them....pics of clamp.

those clamps are GARBAGE...if you want any of your grease to stay in that joint then go buy the other style clamp. if you need to use that one then I would suggest getting the tool to do it...you can do it without the tool but it will fail even sooner. 🙂

What clamp do you suggest? If it's something that's cheaper than the $9.99 tool and doesn't require me to buy another tool I'll definitely buy the ones you suggest....

I'm not sure what the name of the clamp is but it is a "pinch style" clamp...there is a special tool to do it...but a pair of side cutters will work just fine with them as long as you don't actually cut the clamp in the process....

kinda hard to see...but this guy uses the style clamp that is better...http://www.hasengeeks.com/projects.php?page=axles

just buy an aftermarket axle their like 99 bucks. lifetime warranty.

or buy the correct tool and do it right, ive had great luck with those clamps if you do it right

Those are called Oetiker clamps. I think I paid something like $30 for the Oetiker/Knipex tool for them.

i have the tool that will work on the style clamp you already have if you want to borrow it. if you think you'll ever buy this type of clamp or do this job again, you may as well buy the tool, but whatever. LMK if you want to pick it up. I'll take a $10 deposit. You give me back a working tool, I give you back your working $10 🙂

Just use a big zip tie, nip off the excess and call it a day. 😄
