Little update, did some work on the head over the weekend, took it all apart and smoothed out the intake runners and ports on the head a bit...didnt want to go too crazy since I dont have much experience, just wanted to smooth out the flashing from casting and take the roughness down a notch. Waiting on a some valve seals and it will all go back together hopefully towards the end of this week.

You'd be amazed at how much a little "cleaning" in the heads can accomplish. I never had the cougar dynoed but the E7's I ported seemed to flow really well beyond the RPM range where most "stock" 302's fall flat on their face. Keep up the good work, it looks so much better with the new paint and wheels, can't say I'm a fan of the wheel color tho.

from what I have seen, I suggest staying away from Spec clutches... I had a stage 2 and all it was is just a nice disk with a stock pressure plate...

Small bit of progress here. Got some more parts, a Skullworks oil block adapter, some AEM pencil coils, an Aeromotive A1000 FPR, and a set of Supertech cam followers (lifters). I sent the head to the machine shop for a 3angle valve job, and then proceed to assemble the head. I also put the oil block adapter on and installed the Xcessive windage tray/crank scraper, and had to do only a slight amount of clearancing for the crankshaft. Im waiting for a couple more things, hopefully the longblock will be completely assembled in the next couple weeks.

So finally had some time over the last couple weeks to get some more done again. Started cleaning out the engine bay and taking out stuff I dont need anymore. I cut out the battery tray too, that sucked ass. Also pulled the engine bay harness out so I can go through it and check all the wires to make sure they are good, and to add wires I need, and take out ones I dont. I also got everything to start getting the motor more assembled. I was like a 2nd christmas over the last week, a bunch of parts came :icon_cheers: I ran into a snag tonight, I need to get longer spacers made for the fuel rail, the ID1000 injectors + xcessive mani ends up with a much larger gap than what the spacers came with for the oem fuel rail. Pics!

Nate, What do you need for spacers for the Fuel rail? I might have something that could work for you. Good to see this thing getting somewhere.

When you need it, I have the tools for adjusting the valves(unless you have bought one) as well as a bunch of shims.

                                    PM me for:
                                    Sandblasting(I use glass beads)
                                    Diesel repairs or performance products.

I dont know for sure what I'm gonna need for the spacers yet, I have to figure out good way to measure it so I get the right length so that the fuel rail sits parallel with the intake manifold. as far as adjusting the valves, its a little more of a pain in the ass with the supertech lifters, because they are shim under bucket, so after I measure everything, cams have to come all the way back out and the lifters have to be pulled out to put the shim into. which means i cant use your shims either. which sucks, because its about $60 for a set of shims from supertech.

Thanks, although I'm starting to wonder if they will be big enough...it seems like i'm going to have to run them up to like 80psi to get them to flow enough fuel...

I dont think you will have too much trouble with the injectors, but i agree you should have gotten 1200s anyway. I suspect you will be out of pump with that walbro trying to run high pressure to compensate.
Aeromotive is now releasing and will be tested in the coming weeks a drop in walbro replacement that is 340lph at 43.5psi vs the walbros 255. It will be $180 and looks to be the answer for all the intank pump users. I would be on the lookout for a bigger injector, maybe see if you can trade yours in on them if they are unused, and try to keep pressure down to 40psi or so base
