Well the bad luck began, my hood flew open on hwy 10 going about 70mph and fold backwards cracking my windshield and denting my roof, alright that sucked ass. So I ziptied it back shut and did not have any more problems with it.

Don't feel bad.... you surely are not the only one that has done this lately......

I highly doubt it had anything to do with tunning.................. either a oiling or bearing setup issue....... that is i am assuming the noise you are hearing is a spun bearing

Yeah oops. The hood was my stupidity for sure.

I will know for sure in the next few days when I tear it apart for replacement of a few key parts.

AFR leaner than 12:1 or so will certainly damage your motor, ESPECIALLY if you're not on race gas. What do most people tune their turbo motors to on race gas, about 12.5:1 at most?

I think your information is off just a bit. I generally shoot for a 13.5 afr. For a good tune.

That's why you blew your car up then. 13.5:1 on a turbo motor is gonna meltdown. That might work on an N/A motor however.

Good luck with 13.5:) You can damage bearings due to knock. Let's see some pics when you get it apart!

I really do not see how I could have damaged anything with my tune. Considering I did not go into positive boost territory beyond 8psi max as that is what my wastegate is set to. And I was on the break in cycle so I really did not want boost affecting the piston ring seals.

Well what was your a/f ratio and how much was it knocking? Even a little boost, running too lean and knocking will destroy bearings.

I don't think it was cause by me running lean or detonation. But we will see once I pull it apart if a piston is fucked I will eat my words.

If I would have had fair warning the guy I got the block from was incompetent in putting together an engine I would have had the crank cut and smoothed out.
When I first popped the rod cap off it looked like there was no bearing at all and that thin pieces were what I managed to scrape off with a screwdriver.

On another note I got the block completely stripped down and it looks like I might be able to do a hone job and replace the rotating assembly.

Oh and I threw the crankshaft like it was a shot put right out the door of the shop..... Where it still lies and I will cut it in half and use it as an anchor for my canoe.

Ahh, well from the first post all we knew was that he went out and was doing some tuning. No knowledge of a fresh engine!

                                        Good luck with the rebuild!

Well the Block pistons rods and crank are all at the machine shop now.

I am really looking forward to this being done.
